Krafty Birthday Blooms

This card is my solution to a team challenge to make a card inspired by an everyday object.  The everyday object I chose was a tissue box - at the moment I am suffering with a cough and cold and sporting a sore, red nose and as a result I have been spending a little too much time down the supermarket isle that stocks tissues!  There are some very pretty designs though.  So, thinking of that saying that every cloud has a silver lining, I decided to use the time invested in buying umpteen boxes of tissues to good use and translate the designs into a card.
First, I made the central black flower image by inking the stamp up with versamark ink, tapping that onto the black ink pad and then stamping onto the kraft card.  Then the image was covered with clear embossing powder and heated to give the raised, shiny black image.  Then, after cleaning the stamp thoroughly, the images around the edge can be created using versamark ink and clear embossing powder.
Next, I coloured the whole of the central image with white craft ink and an aqua painter.  By squeezing the ink pad while it is closed a little ink is transferred from the pad to the lid, which can then be used as a pallette when the ink pad is opened up.  The raised embossed lines resist the water colouring and allow for a really clean finish.  After the white ink is dry, a coloured layer can be applied over the top to give a chalky, washed out finish.  The stamens were finished with the gold Wink of Stella pen to give a little shimmer.
Thank you for popping in today.  Where do you get your inspiration from?
