Perennial Lavender Suite Thank You for the International Blog Highlights Winner's Hop

Hello and welcome to my blog. Earlier in the month, I participated in Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights and after the voting had closed I was delighted to find myself in the Top Ten!

Thank you so much to everyone who visited the gallery and voted for my card. If you missed it, you can read all about it here. I am absolutely thrilled to be eligible to take part in this winner's hop.

For my card for today I am using the Perennial Lavender Suite again. Indeed, I have decided to use up some of the extra elements I prepared for my original card, so this card has a similar colour combination, with a different look. There is a mixture of stamped and die-cut images, die-cut card and also die-cut DSP. The Lost Lagoon foliage is cut from DSP - its appearance is not quite as solid looking as card stock.

I gathered the pieces and arranged them into a little bouquet and used a mixture of glue dots and mini dimensionals to secure them together. Then I tied them together with some Linen Thread.

I am using the Perennial Postage dies for the first time! I cut two the same size and off-set them as a foil for the hand-tied flowers. One is cut from Blackberry Bliss and the other is cut from DSP. The DSP is embossed using the Sale-a-Bration Softly Sophisticated folder, which was supposed to be mounted with the other side facing uppermost for more contrast! Oops, I made a mistake, so I made it again with slightly different colours.

For the sentiment I cut two small banners from the Postage dies. Firstly, I stamped the simple Thank You from the Timeless Arrangements set on the Crumb Cake one using Blackberry Bliss ink. The Blackberry Bliss one is split into two pieces before adhering to the Crumb Cake one so that a small portion extends from each end.

I am pleased that I was able to make another card using treasures from my desk. Click on the names below to hop around and see the other fabulous projects. Enjoy! Fluffiest Friends for #GDP429 - a colour challenge

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today, I am sharing a super cute square card made with the Fluffiest Friends bundle from our Online Exclusive Collection. I am following the challenge over at the Global Design Project, which this week is based on a colour combination.

My immediate thought was to incorporate a red heart for the Poppy Parade element, and to make a Valentine's card, but after musing about it for a while I decided that this cute bunny holding a cupcake had stolen my heart!

The bunny from the Fluffiest Friends set is stamped in Pebbled Path ink on to Fluid 100 watercolor paper and cropped out using the coordinating dies. I watercoloured the image using my Wink of Stella Glitter Brush by picking up ink that I'd pressed onto a stamp block. By diluting the ink I was able to create a light, pinkish shade using Poppy Parade ink to colour the feet, ears and cupcake icing.

I used the shading details on the stamped image to help me add Pebbled Path ink to colour the cute bunny. For completeness the cupcake wrapper was coloured with Lost Lagoon!

The cute rabbit deserves a cute square card, which then allowed me to add stitched square layers using the Stylish Shapes dies. I have nested Lost Lagoon paper, from the Sale-a-Bration Light and Airy pack on to a Pebbled Path square. This in turn sits on top of the Poppy Parade layer, which is over stamped with flowers from the set, popped up on Dimensionals and wrapped with Lost Lagoon ribbon.

The Wink of Stella really twinkles on the bunny image and the centre of the tone on tone flowers, but I'm not sure that the photo will do it justice! Hopefully the person I'm sending this to will smile when they open it!

Fingers crossed - I'm off to the post box to send it on its way.
I hope you are inspired to make and send a card, and maybe to try the colour challenge. Do you need any of the products  used on today's cards? A Colour Challenge for the Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop - January 2024

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I am delighted to be taking part in the Ink and Inspiration blog hop for January 2024.

This month our inspiration is two-fold; we can use the beautiful bright colours or the idylic scene depicted in the picture (or both!).

At first I was a little daunted by the colour pallette, but I quickly decided to loosely follow the composition in the picture which settled my nervousness, and I managed to use all the colours, except for Poppy Parade. I can see daisies in the picture so I decided to use the Dainty Delight stamps and dies. I also took some inspiration from the Daisy Delight sample on page 23 of the Annual Catalogue.

To begin with I die cut a mixture of frames using the Scalloped Contour dies - I used a selection of colours just to see how they played with each other. Next, I cut a few pieces of Basic White card to nest inside the smaller of the two frames. This was going to be the canvas for my scene.

In my head I decided that I wanted the background to be two tone to represent grass/field and sky. Granny Apple Green and Azure Afternoon are bright and happy colours that scream sunny afternoon! I tried inking up a block with ink, spritzing it with water and  stamping it onto the card and also using blending brushes to swirl the colour on. Both methods were successful, but I preferred the more subtle colour created by the blending brushes.

I stamped the sprays of flowers and foliage using StazOn ink and watercoloured them with inks applied with a Wink of Stella brush. Not only is the colour washed out, but there is a gorgeous shimmer to it too. Before adhering the coloured flowers on the background I also added some die cut elements which helped to fill out the arrangement. I love the pops of colour they provide. Of course, I had to add a Baker's Twine bow and some Iridescent Pearls too! Once the little canvas was ready I could decide which of the frames looked the best.

I hope that you are inspired by my card today and that you will continue along the hop to see what the others have created too - click on the names below to enjoy their  projects. We would love to hear from you and so if you have been inspired, please leave a comment.
