Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I am taking part in a blog hop with some fellow enthusiasts who love sharing their creative talents using their Stampin' Up!® products. This month the Stamping Inkspirations blog hop is technique challenge.
The
challenge for us this month is to use our Designer Series Paper for paper piecing. I think that commonly, paper piecing is a method of colouring stamped images but I have taken the words quite literally and I have pieced pieces of paper together in the fashion of a quilt.
A while ago, when the Annual Catalogue launched, I saw a sample shared by Berdien Weideveld, one of the talented Artisan Team members, using the Paper Florist dies to make a tiled card. I squirrelled away the idea and thought that this challenge was the ideal opportunity to have a go myself.

I have used colours traditionally associated with the festive season combining Shaded Spruce, Real Red and Cherry Cobbler to make a cosy Christmas quilt on a card. The background is formed by alternating red and green squares of the Joy of Christmas Designer Series Paper from the up coming September to December Mini catalogue.
The tiled group of nine squares is decorated with elements die cut using the Paper Florist dies and, for a touch of luxury, I added a few elements cut from the gorgeous Distressed Gold Specialty Paper.

I die cut a selection of elements and played around until I was happy with the rosettes I had formed before setting about cutting, arranging and sticking them all together. As always I was a bit indecisive with this part and although the process wasn't difficult, it was a bit fiddly and time consuming. So, I think it is fair to say that I won't be mass producing these designs!

To emphasise the Distressed Gold paper I wrapped some Elegant trim around the biggest layer, which is also textured with the Time Worn Type embossing folder. And as an after thought, I added some of the gold Festive Pearls to the centre of a few of the rosettes. Don't they finish things off nicely?
For completeness I did two different versions. They are pretty similar, but they look different when colours are reversed. Here they are all laid out together looking even more like a quilt.
