Stitched with Cheer Christmas Card

What are the chances of having a white Christmas?  We can dream of opening the curtains on Christmas morning to be greeted with a picture postcard scene comprising a thick, sparkling white carpet and tree branches painted with glistening glitter as far as the eye can see, but I'm not sure how likely that is.
This pretty snow flurry on a card is made with the Stitched with Cheer stamps, and makes me think of falling snowflakes twirling through the air. This stamp set complements the Stitched with Cheer Project kit and both items are on special offer until 28th November, as part of the Stampin' Up! Online Extravaganza.
The background is stamped using Whisper White craft ink and Tip Top Taupe ink and then, to add a shiny element, there is some gold heat embossing too.  For yet more shine, I've added a piece of gold foil behing the punched stars.

I hope you like today's shiny snowflake card.  Will you be keeping your fingers crossed for a white Christmas?

Krafty Birthday Blooms

This card is my solution to a team challenge to make a card inspired by an everyday object.  The everyday object I chose was a tissue box - at the moment I am suffering with a cough and cold and sporting a sore, red nose and as a result I have been spending a little too much time down the supermarket isle that stocks tissues!  There are some very pretty designs though.  So, thinking of that saying that every cloud has a silver lining, I decided to use the time invested in buying umpteen boxes of tissues to good use and translate the designs into a card.
First, I made the central black flower image by inking the stamp up with versamark ink, tapping that onto the black ink pad and then stamping onto the kraft card.  Then the image was covered with clear embossing powder and heated to give the raised, shiny black image.  Then, after cleaning the stamp thoroughly, the images around the edge can be created using versamark ink and clear embossing powder.
Next, I coloured the whole of the central image with white craft ink and an aqua painter.  By squeezing the ink pad while it is closed a little ink is transferred from the pad to the lid, which can then be used as a pallette when the ink pad is opened up.  The raised embossed lines resist the water colouring and allow for a really clean finish.  After the white ink is dry, a coloured layer can be applied over the top to give a chalky, washed out finish.  The stamens were finished with the gold Wink of Stella pen to give a little shimmer.
Thank you for popping in today.  Where do you get your inspiration from?

Night of Navy Super Stars

These cards are clean and fresh looking. I love the simplicity of the blue and white, with just a hint of silver.  The Floral Boutique papers are a sophisticated combination of Night of Navy and Whisper White - some are floral whilst others are geometric.

These cards were sent "Just Because" and to say "Thank You".  On reflection, the circles are a little "Captain America".  I am a fan of Marvel Super Heroes, and the people I sent the cards to are Super Heroes to me, so I am quite pleased with my happy accident.

Who would you send a Super Hero card to?
