Coffee Cafe with gift card holder!

I love to start the day with a steaming mug of frothy coffee.  We have one of those machines where you add a capsule, press a button and the coffee is made and then delivered by a famous actor...all true except for the bit about the delivery!

I'm also quite partial to chatting with a friend whilst having a coffee and a biscuit or piece of cake.  Especially good when the weather is gloomy, as it is today.  I'm equally happy enjoying my coffee at home or in a coffee shop!  The Coffee Cafe bundle is perfect for a calorie free injection of caffine.  You can even share a coffee with a friend via the post by sending a gift card!

My card can be used as an invitation, with plenty of space underneath the flap to write a message, to invite a friend for a coffee with a pocket perfectly sized for a gift card.  So, even if you can't share a coffee by sitting together in person, you can sent the funds to share one by post.

The colours I have used with Whisper White are Early Espresso and Soft Sky, which are colours used in the coordinating Designer Series Paper (DSP), Coffee Break.  The stamps include a trio of coffee beans that I've used to create the border, and the sentiment just nestles inside.  One of life's simple pleasures.  I've used two of the more muted papers to create the cover and the coffee cups because I wanted the words to stand out and be bold.  The coffee cups and the collars are easily cut out using the Coffee Cups framelit dies.   The pocket on the inside is made from DSP and matches the cover.  All neat and complimentary!

One of the dies actually embosses as well - smooth cardstock goes in to the Big Shot, and out comes a collar with a corrugated texture.  (Another die even cuts out a cute little coffee cup from the DSP.  How cool is that?)

So who will you invite to share a coffee with you?

Happy Crafting and coffee drinking,

Magical Mermaid for Global Design Project #121

Ooh, I had so much fun making this card for Global Design Project 121.  It has been far too long since I followed one of their challenges and I've really missed doing them.  This time there is a colour challenge to use Sweet Sugarplum, Bermuda Bay and Peekaboo Peach.

http://www.global-design-project.com/2018/01/global-design-project-121-colour.html

My card uses the adorable Magical Day stamps which I was delighted to win as a Prize Patrol at the most recent Stampin' Up! OnStage event in Birmingham.  The event was in November, and I'm ashamed to say that it has taken me until now to ink these delightful  stamps up...I'm not going to put them away for a while because they are such fun to colour and so cute.

I'll put my hands up and admit that Peekaboo Peach isn't a colour that I regularly use, and I was worried that this colour combination would defeat me.  The samples from the Global Design Team inspired me, especially when I realised that Peekaboo Peach is perfect for ginger coloured hair!  Once upon a time I had very ginger hair, so this discovery made me happy.

I created a background with Bermuda Bay and Peekaboo Peach (it's a great beach colour too!) by pressing some ink from the inkpad onto an acrylic block, spritzing with plenty of water and then pressing the coloured block onto some watercolour card.  The colours spread and mix a little which gives a great beach/sea effect.  Once the backgroung was dry (I speeded up the process by using my heat tool) I stamped a seahorse and some bubbles to add to the little underwater scene.

The next bit of the card making was something that I'd been meaning to try for a while.  I love the effect of the Stitched Shaped Framelits, and I use them all the time, but I haven't actually stitched on a card...until now!  The Annual Catalogue includes some Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate, which has gold foil designs on one side AND the reverse side looks like silver!  I have used the silver side of the pattern that reminds me of waves.  The problem with acetate is attaching it to a card without seeing the adhesive, and my solution is usually to hide the adhesive behind an embellishment!  Not today, because I used my sewing machine to sew around the edge and I couldn't resist enclosing a few silver sequins too.

The star of the card is the mermaid.  Doesn't she look serene floating in the sea?  She is stamped onto shimmery white card and coloured using markers and an aqua painter for the hair and face.  For additional magical splarkle on the tail, I added some Wink of Stella glitter.  I have fussy cut round the outside, but there are some coordinating dies available (which may well land in my basket next time I shop!).

The finishing touches are from the Seaside embossing folder (what else could it be?), some Myths and Magic Glimmer paper and some silver and organza ribbon looped behing the sentiment.  I really have had so much fun making this.

Thank you for visiting here today.  Happy crafting,

Heart Happiness with the Painted with Love Suite

Hello and welcome to my blog today!  My creativity has returned just in time to take part in Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights for January!  The theme this time is Favourite Spring/Summer or Sale-A-Bration Catalogue Products.

The best bit about this Highlight is that you can vote for your favourite projects.  I would love it if you would vote for my project HERE.  The top ten winners will get to be part of an international blog hop so I would really appreciate it if you would VOTE for my project.

You can see the Spring/Summer catalogues HERE or the Sale-A-Bration catalogue HERE.

Wow!  There are so many gorgeous products to be tempted by, but, the choice of what to use for this blog post was easy for me.  I truly have a soft spot for anything with hearts on, so my choice is to use the Sure Do Love You Bundle and the Heart Happiness stamps from the Painted with Love Suite in the Spring/Summer catalogue (see pages 18, 19 and 20).  I am so happy to see so many hearts!

On the first card I have used gold heat embossing on the delightful frame and the sentiment  to complement the gold details on the Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.  All the gold details really shine!

The colours I have used are Rich Razzleberry and Calypso Coral.  I've added texture by using the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Embossing folder on the largest layer, wrapping Baker's Twine around the banner and lifting the sentiment and distressed heart up on dimentionals.

Included within the Painted with Love Suite there are some new small and narrow notecards.  They are super cute and come in a pack of 20 notecards and envelopes, with the notecards measuring 6.4cm x 11.4cm, for £7.25.  I've used them with some more of the pretty papers and made a couple of quick and easy cards in no time at all!  The little "I'm Yours" heart reminds me of LoveHeart sweets!

These are my favourite new products...that is until I pick up another stamp set, which will then become my new favourite!  Which ones are your favourites?

Thank you for visiting my blog today.  I'd be delighted if you visited Kylie's blog to vote for my project.  I would love to be chosen to do an international blog hop.

Happy Crafting,
