Welcome to my blog today. I made this card for Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights for August. The theme for this month is TEACHER GIFTS and I'm super excited to be taking part again. The best bit about this Highlight is that you can vote for your favourite five projects. The top ten winners will get the chance to be part of an international blog hop in the future so I would really appreciate it if you would VOTE for my project.
I feel lucky to work in our local primary school - my children have many happy memories from their time there. They all moved on to Secondary a few years ago, but I stayed! I feel privileged to help in the Year 4 classroom with children aged 8 and 9. They are very creative and their art books are a real treasure.
My project today is influenced by something we usually do at the end of the Autumn Term, which is to make a picture for a calendar to go on. Often, the children choose to draw a tree or a scene throughout the seasons. I have chosen to make a picture using the Painted Harvest stamps to reflect each season.
We are currently on our long Summer holidays, and when we return to school in September, we will be in a differnt room. So eventually, the picture will go into a box frame, to hopefully be hung up in our new classroom. (The glass in the frame made it too difficult to photograph!)
Spring |
I had fun choosing the colours for each season and ended up with an array of samples to choose from. For Spring, I have used Soft Sea Foam for the first, more solid layer followed by Mint Macaron and Soft Suede (stamped off onto scrap paper first) for the centre. There are a few Artisan Pearls and silver sequins to give the illusion of blossom.
Summer |
I have used colours for a classic sunflower to represent Summer. They are Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry. The centre is again Soft Suede, and I used that each time to give some harmony between the images. Individual sequins from the gold sequin trim provide some lustre.
Autumn |
This reminds me of some gorgeous, velvety sunflowers that I once grew. If I remember correctly, they were called Autumn Beauty and they had fabulously rich russet petals. The colours I have used for the petals are Crushed Curry and Merry Merlot. There are more gold sequins and also a Linen Thread bow.
Winter |
It had to be a Christmas style wreath for the winter. So, there are red berries as well as some clear sequins for decoration. The combination for the foliage is Granny Apple Green with Tranquil Tide.
Each individual picture is stamped onto a square, Stitched Shape framelit that I placed on my Stamperatus - I only had to line the stamps up once - the rest was easy. The four squares are arranged onto a piece of the 6" x 6" Woodgrain paper. The leaves were curled gently and then attached using glue dots. The coloured ones are Tranquil Tide ink onto Granny Apple Green card and they are cut out with the coordinating punch. The vellum leaves are punched out and then embossed with the Subtle folder.
Thank you for visiting my blog. I do hope you have enjoyed this project. I'd be really happy if you visited the gallery and voted for my project!
