Beautiful Moments

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today, I am sharing a card made with the Beautiful Moments stamp set. I love the way these two are looking at each other so intently whilst they walk along the beach. It also makes me want to visit the sea! Roll on warm, sunny days and walks by the shore.

Seaside Spray card seemed the perfect one to use for the base card and I added a further layer of Seaside Spray some So Saffron which were topped off with a layer of Vellum card stock. These blocks of colour were embossed using the Subtle embossing folder and loosely represent the shore, water and sky in the little scene. In addition, there are very skinny layers of Early Espresso card to create a frame. I think it makes the layers pop!

The idea for the layers of colour came from the Sketch Challenge over at The Paper Players this week. Their sketch looks like this:

I wanted the card to have a warm, weathered look so I chose to watercolour the image by  stamping on Shimmery White card with black StazOn ink. There are various ways to watercolour in Stampin' Up! colours. You can use ink pads or reinkers or Stampin' Write Markers in a similar way - transfer some ink onto a non-porous surface, an acrylic block is ideal, and then use an Aqua Painter to have fun colouring in the image. Alternatively, you could also use Watercolour pencils. I used my ink pads, but use which ever method you prefer.

Some Natural Linen Thread is wrapped around the embossed layers and a couple of flying birds are stamped in the background. The watercoloured image is cropped using one of the Stitched Rectangle dies, mounted on Early Espresso and popped up on Dimensionals to finish the card.

Making this card has been a great escape from the cold February weather and it is making me look forward to the warmer summer days later in the year. Thank you for visiting me today - hopefully you enjoyed the brief escape to the seaside!

Special Someone

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today, I am joining in the fun over at The Paper Players where the challenge this week has a Woodland Critters theme on a Clean and Simple card.

http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com/2020/02/pp478-clean-and-simple-challenge-from.html

As soon as I saw the challenge I knew that I wanted to use the super cute Special Someone stamps. I often struggle with Clean and Simple cards, I have a tendancy to add one more embellishment. This time, I think I have cracked it with a flat card that shows off some super #SimpleStamping at its best!

I have used two different colourways: Blueberry Bushel and Lovely Lipstick, both use Very Vanilla as a base. I added the sentiment to the bottom of the card to start with - I think it helps to ground the critters. Then, with two step stamping I was able to create the furry critters and balloon with ease. First, I stamped the outline layer using ink straight from the pad. The solid stamp was then added over the top to fill in the image. For this, I used second generation ink by first stamping off onto scrap paper.

The critters really come to life when the fur layer is added and they really are adorable. Just look at how cute their faces are! My only embellishment for this card was to add the tiniest amount of glitter from my Wink of Stella pen to the highlight on the balloon. I have tied my hands behind my back before I add anything else!

All Dressed Up and ready to say Thank You!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today, I am sharing one of the projects that we made at one of my recent classes. There's a cute bag and three little thank you notes.

The bag is made from the Golden Honey Bee paper that can be earnt for FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-A-Bration. The pieces for the bag are cut using the All Dressed Up dies - there are pieces for the body of the bag, the handles, buttons and buckles. Stampin' Up! have thought of it all.

The body of the bag is made by joining two die cuts - the cutting, scoring and the stitched decoration is all done with one pass through your die cutting machine. The beauty of the double sided Designer Series Paper is that you get to see both sides of the pattern. Your bag can then be accesorised with buckles, handles and pockets. There are tassles in the All Dressed Up suite that you can use to decorate your bag!

These bags are perfect containers for 3" x 3" cards...the perfect gift card holder! By using scraps of the paper and mixing in some punched circles and starbursts with the Thank You sentiment from the So Sentimental set it is quick and easy to pull together a bold and dramatic set of notes. The sentiments are heat embossed in white or gold - I love heat embossing! Watching the shiny images appear is pure magic. They look perfect punched out and mounted onto a larger circle, or if you like fussy cutting that looks good too!

The All Dressed Up dies are part of the Best Dressed suite which contains a set of Designer Series Paper that has both very girly images; shoes and make up and also some beautiful floral prints. I can't wait to try making a very different looking bag with them.

Thank you for visiting my blog I hope you liked the stylish bag of notecards. If you want to purchase the items used for this project, or any other supplies, please take a look in my online Stampin' Up! shop.  You can follow the link or click on the pictures below of the products I have used today.
