In my last blog post I mentioned that I had another card idea up my sleeve! Well, I have made a card to fulfil our latest team challenge - which was to inspire, create and share via a card with a masculine theme. Father's Day falls on the third Sunday in June, which, this year, is on the 18th - so I've poured my ideas into making a card for the occasion.
My card combines the Guy Greetings stamp set with vellum, which is the common thread to my previous card. It's a stamp set that I haven't used for a while, but it fits the bill perfectly, and I'm so glad that I have dusted it off to use.
I've used Basic Black Archival ink on Whisper White card to create the bold monochromatic background. The stamps I've used depict a single pair of shoes and a collection of six hats... so how did I create the all over pattern, I hear you ask? Well, I used an ingenious stamp positioning tool called a Stamp-a-ma-jig. With the aid of a see-through sheet and a handle you are able to position a stamp image exactly where you want it every time!
Once the background was complete, I wrapped a vellum band around the middle section so that it became slightly muted - leaving the top and bottom row of hats at full intensity. The silver heat embossed sentiment is the only deviation from the black and white monochrome theme. Of course, the sentiment could be different - a birthday greeting, perhaps (there is one in the set) - and it doesn't have to be black and white. It would work just as well with blue and white... those cogs in my brain are whirring again!

Falling Flowers for Global Design Project #GDP088
The card I have to share with you this time is inspired by the Global Design Team member Shawn de Oliveira. The challenge this week is to CASE his chosen project.
To CASE a project is to Copy And Selectively Edit -
so you can take what you like from the design and make it your own. It might be
the stamp set, the colours, the layout, the flowers, whatever you like
that has inspired you to make a card of your own.
As soon as I saw this fabulous card I knew that the way the rose was coloured was the element I wanted to CASE. I featured the Falling Flowers stamps and coordinating dies in my card class last weekend - the stamps and dies will be in the new annual catalogue (but they will no longer be bundled - so buy them before 31st May to take advantage of the 10% bundle discount). After I had finished making the samples for my class, I still had lots of ideas buzzing around my head. Using a stamp set seems to make the ideas snowball and multiply in my head... does that happen to you? Up pops this challenge and the seedling of an idea is already there.
The swirly background is stamped in Elegant Eggplant onto Whisper White card, and the smaller flowers are stamped with Wisteria Wonder. This whole layer is wrapped in vellum to mute and soften the colours. The large flower is die cut twice. Once from Elegant Eggplant (discarding the petals) and again from Silver Glimmer Paper. The silver petals are inlaid into the Elegant Eggplant surround to make an incredibly sparkly flower. Glorious, isn't it?
The sentiment, which is from the new Pieces & Patterns stamp set, is silver heat embossed to continue the shiny theme. Small, gem encrusted, Wisteria Wonder flowers are scattered across the front to complete the card. I hope you like it.
Whilst I was making this card the cogs in my brain were whirring... and next time I will share where my thoughts have taken me!

Delightful Daisy
The launch of the new catalogue is just around the corner now. Just over a week to go until the whole catalogue, in all its glory, can be shared with you. Until then I have another lovely suite of products to introduce you to. Welcome the Delightful Daisy Suite!
My first card is soft and delicate and combines the stamps and the designer series paper from the suite. The papers are a collection of double sided sheets with both delicate and bold florals. There are plainer patterns too. The soft, almost chalky, colours are perfect for Spring and Summer. The large daisy flower is stamped twice, using Pool Party ink, and punched out with a new coordinating punch.
Making these daisy cards has taken me back to childhood and making long daisy chains! Sitting on the grass and picking those pretty flowers from the lawn...s ome of the petals tinged with pink, but all of the centres were domed in shape and bright yellow. Remembering is making me smile! The flower centre on my card is made from one of the new faceted gems. They will be available in clear and gold, and shimmer beautifully. Realistic, aren't they?
My second card has a simple crisp feel to it. Texture is added to the dark background by using the new Oh My Stars embossing folder, and with a little stretch of the imagination the stars look daisy-like! The simple birthday greeting (from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous set) sits below a big, bold daisy and the square panel is framed with tiny blue stamped daisies.
I'm really pleased with how these cards turned out. Very similar ingredients, yet the results are quite different. Which do you prefer?

Hello and Thank You!
Crafting always makes me happy. It is a truly theraputic pastime. For me, there is a simple pleasure in transforming quality ingredients into beautiful cards and projects.
Today's cards show off new stamp sets and some of the new In Colors. The palette of new In Colors is gorgeous, and my favourite changes depending on which one I am using! All the colours look fabulous with each other, and I love all the permutations I have tried so far. The colour combination above is Lemon Lime Twist with Berry Burst. The flower and sentiment are from the Pieces & Patterns stamp set... I am so pleased with this set! I've also used the new Label Me Pretty stamp set and the coordinating Pretty Label punch.
While the inks were on my desk, I wanted to try them out with another stamp set. The Happy Birthday Gorgeous set is just that - gorgeous! I have used a pair of stamps for the flowers. The pretty outline is stamped in Berry Burst whilst the coloured petals come from a second stamp using Powder Pink ink. This is two step stamping! You can achieve lots of different effects using this approach. The one above uses two different colours of ink but you can also use lighter and darker shades of the same colour! The little Lemon Lime Twist leaves are created using a leaf outline stamp which is then coloured using an aqua painter.
On Saturday I'm looking forward to sharing some cards at my next class and to a thoroughly crafty weekend! Happy times ahead. Happy crafting,
