Perennial Lavender Suite for International Blog Highlights January 2024

Hello and welcome to my blog. This is my card to entry to Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights for January 2024 - the theme is Thank you. I love the scent of lavender and that the flowers come in so many different shades. Terracotta pots brimming with these delicate blooms and covered with bees is a sight I am really looking forward to this summer! So, the Perennial Lavender Suite in the January - April Mini Catalogue was on my must have list.

For my thank you card I have reused a fun-fold card design that I made several months ago. It's a tri-fold card giving multiple opportunities to show off the gorgeous Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper which is perfect for the garden loving recipient.

Whilst I used Basic White card to stamp on I decided that Crumb Cake worked best for the card base to create a tone on tone layer with the DSP. Starting with a full sheet of A4 card I marked the short sides of the card at 14.8cm (being the standard height of a card) from the top on one side and from the bottom on the other side. Cut the card in two along this diagonal.

For the scoring, put the long straight edge of the card in the trimmer and score at 10.5cm and 20.4cm (the first scoreline creates the back section/width of the card and the second one facillitates a small border either side of the middle section when the card is folded). Scoring in exact thirds would also work!

I picked a trio of colours, from those used in the DSP, for the lavender flowers. To create a varigated, more realistic appearance to the stamped flowers I applied ink using the brush tip of three Stampin' Write markers. I applied Highland Heather all over the surface and then added Gorgeous Grape and Orchid Oasis randomly over a few of the petals. I did this with both the tall stems and the collection of four tiny flowers (one stamp/die creates four tiny individual accents suitable for layering and adding texture).

In addition to the stamped flowers, I die cut several stems from cardstock creating silhouette images to add amoungst the DSP. The Timeless Arrangements bundle has been sitting on my desk for a while; patiently waiting to be used. The wait is over and the simplicity of the text and delicate die-cut label were perfect for this card. I added a Linen Thread bow and a hint of sparkle with a trio of Purple Fine Shimmer Gems to finish off the card. The gems really twinkle in the light!
