Hello and welcome to my blog. Firstly, I'd like to wish you a very Happy New Year. I'm jumping in to crafting in 2024 starting with a card inspired by the Global Design Project sketch challenge for this week.
My craft space is is in a state of flux. Somewhere between finding a home for some fabulous new product from the January to April Mini catalogue and a reorganisation to make my supplies easier to access. I am sure I will be pleased with the results in the end, but at the moment it's all a bit messy! Anyway, I was determined to be creative and to make something with some new goodies.
For my first attempt I took the sketch quite literally and used a block of Designer Series Paper, some twine and a sentiment from the Nature's Sweetness Suite. I stamped some splatters and leaves on to my base card to create a tone on tone background before adding the layer of DSP, Linen Thread and the sentiment banner. I used a variety of colours for the die cut flowers and foliage and using Early Espresso ink made sure that the sentiment really popped.
I made a further two cards from another sheet of DSP but I really couldn't decide whether to feature the front and back of the paper! They both use Pebbled Path for the card base but they look so different.
The DSP does all the hard work and I just added a simple Happy Birthday greeting on the white label - I used my Stampin' Write marker so that I could just ink up part of the stamp. This time, I exchanged Linen Threat for white Baker's Twine for the bow detail. Don't the Iridescent Pearls add wonderful centres to the flowers?
The last card, which I think is my favourite, uses the sketch more loosely. The background is stamped with a tone on tone grid stamp to echo the lines of the text. The cacao plant is white heat embossed on to Pebbled Path card and then die cut with the coordinating dies - I do love the magic of heat embossing! Again, I have incorporated white Baker's Twine and Iridescent Pearls. They have such a lovely sheen.
Here they all are! Do you have a favourite?
