Sending Love using Sealed with Love Stamps from Stampin' Up! UK

As soon as I saw the Sending Love suite in the catalogue, I knew I was going to love creating with it.  I was right!  There are lots of heart stamps, papers in traditional colours and other elements including mini paper clips, wooden embellishments and ribbons to choose from.  I was like a small child in an old fashioned sweet shop and I didn't really know where to start!

So, after some oohing and arrhing over the gorgeous patterened paper and the cute stamps I began working on some "LOVE" cards.  Valentine's Day is just around the corner so hearts in traditional colours are the order of the day for now.  However, the little envelopes and hearts would be beautiful on Mother's Day or Wedding or Anniversary cards using colours other than red and white.

This card is a variation on a z-fold card that I have come to use quite a bit, and I have restricted the colour palette to the traditional Real Red and Whisper White.  There is plenty of room to display lots of hearts and share lots of love.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have time to create a little something special for your sweetheart.

Paper Pieced Beautiful You Card

Welcome back for another card from my collection using the Beautiful You stamps from Stampin' Up!  This version shows you another way to add colour to your images.  Here Designer Series Paper takes center stage as well as a background roll.

So how do you do it?  First, stamp the image in Island Indigo ink on Sahara Sand card and then stamp it again on some patterned paper.  I have used the Blooms and Bliss papers.  Next, fussy cut the dress and the umbrella out and layer them on top of the image on the Sahara Sand card.  Her wardrobe is only limited to your supply of pretty paper!

I used the Stitched Framelit dies to create an oval frame around the lady.  The card is finished by adding a strip of paper down the side, with a ribbon tied in a bow, and a message at the bottom.  Voila!

Then I wondered if I could create the illusion of rain.  She is, after all holding an umbrella.  I tried embossing the layer with the Softly Falling embossing folder, and I'm really happy with the result. It is raining in the background!  A stroke or two with the Wink of Stella pen adds a glisten to the umbrella to add to the rainy illusion.

Two versions of the same card.  Which do you prefer?  In truth, I really can't decide which I like best.  I like both versions equally!

More colouring with the Beautiful You stamps

When I was deciding what to make at my last card class I knew that I wanted to focus on the Beautiful You stamps.  After all, the ladies are glamorous and stylish and the sentiments are suitable for a wide range of occasions.  As I made my cards I realised that there was another point to focus on (and it is quite on trend at the moment), and that is colouring techniques.

In my previous post, which also features the Beautiful You stamps, I used the new watercolour pencils to colour the image and the Stampin' Write markers to create the multi coloured sentiment.  This time, the colour all comes from the ink pad.  Even the ladies dress is coloured using ink from the ink pad.

First, stamp the image (I used Dapper Denim) on to Shimmery White card.  Then, when the ink pad is closed, squeeze the case gently so that some ink from the pad transfers to the lid.  When the ink pad is opened again you have a ready made palette of exactly the right colour.  Finally, pick up some ink from the lid with either an aqua painter or a blender pen and colour the dress.  Easy coordination.

Layered ovals, using both the stitched framelits and the layering oval framelits, surround the image.  It almost looks like she is viewing herself in a mirror!

The Sweet Sugarplum layer is decorated, with a repeated pattern of words down the left hand side, using matching ink and finished off with a knotted piece of Dapper Denim ribbon.  She looks just gorgeous.  I hope you like her too.

Beautiful cards using Beautiful You Stamps by Stampin' Up! UK

I spent Saturday afternoon showing a lovely group of ladies how to make some beautiful cards using the Beautiful You stamps.  I always find card making theraputic and enjoyable and today's collection were no exception.

The Beautiful You stamp set includes three stylish ladies together with some pretty sentiments and the images are perfect for a spot of relaxing colouring.

The Spring Summer catalogue from Stampin' Up! showcases a set of 13 watercolour pencils.  They are wonderful to colour with as they are smooth, creamy and blend really well.  You can just colour with them or you can blend them further using a blender pen (remember to clean it well before changing colour!) or you can create a watercolour look by using an aqua painter.  You can even add shimmer by blending with a wink of stella pen!

The stitched framelits were used as a surround for both the picture of the lady and the sentiment.  Clever partial cutting of the larger square allows you to cut a rectangle to accomodate the lady and Stampin' Write Markers were used to create the multicoloured sentiment.
The afternoon was filled with chatter and crafting which was a lot of fun.  If you would like more details about classes, please email me at furrycatdesigns@gmail.com
