Birthday Carousel for #GDP079

Last week was a bit busy.  Actually, it was super busy and verged on manic at times.  It was busy in a good way, but now I feel like I'm playing catch up!  The main event of the week was my eldest two children turning 16.  I love birthday celebrations.  Buying and wrapping presents, making cakes and of course making the birthday cards!

So, last week flew by and I didn't share anything here or contribute to the Global Design Project.  A new week a new challenge over at the Global Design Project.  And what a challenge it is this week.  It is a theme challenge and the theme is Amusement Park.  By a very happy coincidence the card that I made for my daughter fits the bill perfectly, and she is happy for me to share it here.

The idea for the card started as a little seed when I first used the Cupcakes and Carousels papers at a team training event in January.  The little idea blossomed and grew in my head, and I did some planning on paper.  Finally I started to make something and, more by luck than judgement, the 3-d card was made.

The canopy moves up and down to allow the side sections to either lie flat on the table top or upright hiding the carousel of horses.  The first time it was opened it caused quite a stir!  The horses appear to gallop around the carousel - the illusion is created by using thin strips of window plastic curled into circles to attach them to the central column.

There are pockets on the side sections which, at the moment, hold small cards that I've decorated with coordinating paper and written notes on.  They are also a perfect place to keep birthday Instax pictures!  The Cupcakes and Carousels papers are gorgeous and I have so enjoyed using them to create this project.

Easter Bunny Basket Bunch for #GDP077

I couldn't resist it any longer.  I had to get the Basket Bunch stamps inky.  These are super cute stamps suitable for all your Spring, Easter and bunny related projects!  My youngest daughter is particularly happy about the purchase of this bundle of stamps and dies...she loves all things rabbit related.

The Global Design Project this week is a colour challenge - #GDP077.  There are three colours to use in the challenge, plus one free choice of colour.

The colours stipulated in the challenge are Peekaboo Peach, Bermuda Bay and Early Espresso.  I have also used So Saffron.  All of these colours feature within the Cupcakes and Carousels papers.  Creative harmony!  I've also used these papers for the layers on my card.

My card is a Z-fold card, which is one of my favourite types of 3-d cards.  The little rabbit(s) are adorable, and I'm really happy that one of them hides until the card stands open.  Their faces are cheeky and cute in equal measure, with a little wink of stella glitter to add some sparkle to their ears and bow ties.  Now, the decision is carrot or chocolate egg!  For me, there is absolutely no contest.  Chocolate eggs.  Every time!!

How about you?  Would you go for the Easter Bunny chocolate or the healthy crunchy carrot?

Hello Spring using the Circle of Spring stamps by Stampin' Up!

I must admit that I have been happily distracted by the offerings in the Spring Summer catalogue, but sadly that means I have neglected the stamps from the Annual Catalogue for a while.  Today, I am putting that right by featuring the Circle of Spring stamps alongside some of the gorgeous newer products.
The beautiful wreath is stamped using archival black ink and coloured using the wonderful watercolour pencils, although in this instance I just coloured without blending in any way.  Once I had chosen a sheet of the Cupcakes and Carousels designer series paper the colour choices were easy - Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight.
The Wonderful Wreath framelits coordinate with these stamps (aswell as the Wonderful Wreath stamps), making cutting the wreath out a breeze.
The flowers are stamped, die cut and topped with enamel accents to complete the wreath, which is then raised up using Dimensionals.
The Circle of Spring set comes with very useful sentiments, including happy mother's day and happy easter.  I've chosen "hello spring" to complete my card - Spring is in the air afterall.  The final touch is to tie a bow around the bottom of the extended stitched framelit panel.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Happy Spring! Happy Crafting!

Make a Medallion for #GDP076

This week I was excited to receive an order from Stampin' Up!  The box(es!) contained lots of fabulous new products alongside some useful staples.  The consigment included one of the new Sale-A-Bration items, the Make A Medallion stamp setwhich I have used for my solution to the Global Design Project Challenge this week.

This week we are challenged to CASE the designer, Kylie Bertucci.  The card she has picked to CASE this week is the card that persuaded me to contribute my very first entry to the Global Design Project in December 2016 - it was a colour challenge - I loved the colours You can see my entry to that colour challenge HERE.

Back to this week's challenge. To CASE is to Copy And Selectively Edit - take what you like from the design and make it your own. It might be the stamp set - the colours, the layout, the flowers, whatever you like that has inspired you to make a card of your own.
As I mentioned I loved the colours of Kylie's card, I also loved the layout and the stamps! So, to CASE Kylie this week I have used the same layout, but used different stamps and different colours.

When I first saw the pictures of the Make a Medallion stamps, I wasn't sure if it was a stamp set I would enjoy using.  Fast forward to now, and I am very slightly hooked!  I had a few practise goes and then started on a clean sheet of Very Vanilla cardstock.  Before I knew it I had filled the whole sheet of A4!  I had made my own one sheet wonder and was ready to cut into it, and I've now made several cards!

The colours I have used are Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight.  I found it was easy to line the images up because the stamps are photopolymer so you can see through them for accurate placement.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Happy crafting
