Random Acts of Kindness Cards for September

Welcome to the Random Act of Kindness (RAK) Blog Hop.  You are visiting Karen Henderson in England.  I am so happy to be showcasing the cards I have given and received as part of the Random Act of Kindness Group on Facebook.

Each month, we each select a few people from the Group to send a RAK card to, to brighten their day. Please feel free to join the Group if you enjoy making and sending cards and you would like to participate in the RAK cards movement (blogging is not mandatory). If you would like to join our awesome group here is the link to the group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/randomactsofkindnessgroup/

I left posting out my September cards until the last minute (again!) and just made it to the Post Office before the collection was made!  I had finished the cards a while ago, and even showed some of them off here, but hadn't written the messages...better late than never as they say.

The Celebrate You Thinlits are suitable for all types of occasion - even a simple celebration for receiving Happy Post!! That is why I chose to use them for these RAK cards.

This is the Happy Post I received during August and September:

The watercolouring is excuisite on these flowers and the fabulous Subtle embossing folder adds that little extra to this card.

The white heat embossing defines these blooms that are layered and watercoloured beautifully.

I absolutely love the Waterfront stamp set - the images immediately transport you to a place of tranquility and the sentiment is something to always remember.

The Share What You Love papers are vibrant and summery on this 'Little Hello' card that travelled all the way from Australia.  Tracy Held, thank you for making me smile.

This card travelled all the way from the USA.  This is really effective because the focal point and the background are all stamped with the same image, but they look so different in colour compared with black and white. Thank You Kelley Whittet-Pecenica making me smile.

Haven't I been a lucky crafter?  I hope the projects you've seen here on my blog today have inspired you & brightened your day.  You are currently visiting Karen Henderson.  Please see the list below & hop around all of the people on the list to see all our projects. You don't want to miss any!

Nature's Poem with Stitched Labels

Today, I have another card from my recent class.  My aim was to show how simple cards can be versatile and beautiful.  Afterall, the main thing is to send a card to show someone that you are thinking about them.

So, we have a simple layered card topped with a sentiment stamped on a die cut label from the Stitched Labels framelits.  This time the backdrop is gorgeous leafy pattern from the Nature's Poem Designer Series Paper. The sentiment is from the Stitched All Around stamp set (remember: the stamps and dies can be bought as a bundle for a 10% saving on the individual prices) and the ink coordinates with the paper.

Change the paper, change the ink colour and you have an equally gorgeous, yet different card.  You could change the sentiment too...think of the possibilities!

I have deliberately kept the embellishments simple, just a little Bakers Twine and a scattering of pearls.  Other embellishments might be buttons or bows or sequins...there are so many possiblities!!

Go on, make someone's day by making and sending a card.
As always, happy crafting,

Wonderful Nature's Poem

Welcome back to my blog.  I hope you have had an enjoyable weekend.  Weekends in our house are usually pretty busy, and this one was no exception.  The only difference was it was a different kind of busy and instead of their usual weekend activities my eldest two children went on a road trip to go on a university tour.  So, the house was very quiet for a few days, allowing me plenty of time to prepare for a class on Saturday afternoon...I even baked a coffee cake to share.

I prepared a stack of cards to share with the class, some of which we made during the class, the others were to show how versatile the ingredients were.  This card shows off the Nature's Poem papers wonderfully.  I must admit the I am a little late to the Rooted in Nature party.  I have owned the stamps, dies and papers since the annual catalogue launched, but I haven't created with them nearly enough.  Over the past few days I have addressed this "problem" and I'm really pleased with the results.  The more I crafted the more ideas I generated.  Does that happen to you?

This card shows off both sides of this gorgeous autumnal paper by trimming and spinning the layer of paper and hiding the join underneath the Burlap ribbon.  The design is simple and versatile yet it can be embellished elaborately or decorated modestly as you so choose.  I have used one of the True Gentlemen buttons tied with linen thread and some leaves punched from the Sprig punch.  Wonderful!

As always, happy crafting,

Dashing Deer on Dashing Along Designer Series Paper

Hello again and welcome to my blog.  I have more Christmas gorgeousness for you today.  I have featured the exclusive Dashing Along Designer Series Paper.

These beautiful, traditional Christmas papers are a mix of old favourites and new patterns, giving them an eclectic feel that is perfect for layering.  There is a newsprint design which isn’t Christmas-themed, but it is so versatile.  I'm sure you will love this Designer Series Paper as much as I do.  It's FREE with a qualifying order, but for a limited time only!  In order to qualify the merchandise total of the order must reach £200 (catalogue price before shipping and handling) and be placed before 30th September 2018.

I've teamed up my favourite stamp set with the traditional colours found on the Dashing Along papers.  It just says Christmas!  Which textured background do you prefer?  The elegance of Swirls & Curls or the geometric design of the Tin Tile embossing folder?

For me, heat embossing always has the Wow! factor.  I can still remember the first time I saw the magic happen.  Seeing the gritty powder melting into a raised shiny pattern got me hooked!  And I'm still fascinated when I see it transform!
