Introducing the 2019-2021 In Colors!

Welcome to my blog. I am thrilled to be taking part in a blog hop with other member's of Kylie's Demonstrator Training Group. Whether you are a regular visitor or you are following the hop, you are very welcome here.

Today I'm taking a look at the new colours that have been introduced with the launch of the new catalogue. Even though I have had the new ink pads and cardstock for a while, I have only just started to get acquainted with them (lots of exams going on in our house, so for several weeks the focus has been on revision and moral support rather than crafting!).

I had a productive evening earlier this week and, with the aide of a sample in the new catalogue (see page 46), I have made a collection of cards featuring these delightful new colours.

My idea was simple. I wanted to make the same card for each of the new colours Rococo Rose, Terracotta Tile, Pretty Peacock, Seaside Spray and Purple Posy. For each colour I chose another colour to compliment it and then stamped a pair of butterflies from Butterfly Gala in both the In Color and the additional colour. After using the coordinating punch I had a heap of pretty butterflies ready to decorate my cards.

I frequently get carried away and use lots of tools to create one card. This time I was determined to keep things as simple as possible - I've used one stamp set Butterfly Gala, the coordinating Butterfly Duet punch, Metalic Pearls, ribbon together with the inks and coloured card. I know that there are lots of colours, but afterall the idea was to show off all of the new colours!

I stamped on Shimmery White card to give a beautiful and simple background with a hint of sparkle on the butterflies wings. I wanted to use a neutral ribbon so that it coordinated with all of the colours and I chose one of the spools from the Magnolia Lane Combo pack, but I think that the Scalloped Lace trim would work well too, or perhaps even the Polka Dot Tulle. The sentiment, that also comes from Butterfly Gala, is so versatile making this collection of cards really useful.

The measurements for all the cards are the same:
Base card 19.8cm x 9.9cm, folded to give a square card front 9.9cm x 9.9cm (so you can cut 3 bases from one sheet of A4 card)
Coloured layer 8.4cm x 8.4cm
Shimmery White layer 7.8cm x 7.8cm

So let's see the combinations I have used shall we? In no particular order, first we have Rococo Rose paired with Blushing Bride.

Secondly, we have Terracotta Tile and Petal Pink.

Next, there is Pretty Peacock. My indecisive nature prevailed with this combination and so there are two Pretty Peacock samples. One with Bermuda Bay.

And another teamed up with Coastal Cabana!

Purple Posy and Gorgeous Grape are next.

Finally, the last pair are Seaside Spray and Highland Heather.

I am sure that there are lots of other bold or subtle combinations to explore. Thankfully, there is plenty of time to experiment because these colours will be with us for two years!

Sail Away in the direction of your dreams

Welcome to my blog. Today I am so happy to be participating in Kylie's International Blog Highlights for June and the theme is encouragement.

The best bit about this Highlight is that you can vote for your favourite five projects in the gallery. At the end of the voting the top ten winners will get the chance to be part of an international blog hop later this month. I would love to take part in the hop so I would really appreciate it if you would visit the gallery and vote for my card.

My card uses some wonderful new products from the new catalogue, which you can order from 4th June 2019. I have used some elements from the fabulous Come Sail Away Suite. The sentiment seems apt for this Highlight and would be perfect for an adventure to foreign lands or indeed the daily journey through life.

The Balmy Blue card base is over stamped with the compass image in matching ink to add that something extra without the addition of any extra layers. I created a frame, using the Stitched Rectangle dies, from Soft Suede card to surround the Designer Series Paper so that I made a picture! The lighthouse and sentiment are both stamped using Soft Suede ink on to the luxurious Shimmery White card. The detail in the dies is superb - the ship's wheel has lovely texture and the label has a stitched edge (I love the stitched edge!).

The decorative elements reinforce travel and adventure - the Lighthouse throws a beacon of light, the ship's wheel steers you on your way, the compass guides and the anchor keeps you safe. This suite is definitely going to be well loved!

Thank you for visiting my blog today. I hope you approve of my card and that you'll visit the gallery and vote for me!
