Thank You so much - two ways

Welcome to my blog today.  Do you ever find yourself feeling overwhelmed and wonder where to start?  Wanting to craft, but feeling stumped for ideas?  Our latest Team challenge was to CASE the Stampin' Up! catalogue, which is a perfect solution for a creativity lull.

The catalogue is filled with amazing products and they are supported by enticing photos of stunning projects.  I chose to make a thank you card using A Big Thank You on page 122 of the catalogue.  As a warm up, I just copied the catalogue! Having a starting point is always great because you know it will work when you put the colours and different elements together.  Then you get more ideas and can become more creative and adventurous!

The Thank You die is so useful and is easy to use, especially when you apply the adhesive to the reverse before die cutting to make attaching it on the card super easy.  So, I set about making a variation using different colours - Thank You cards are always needed, and being notecard size makes them perfect for a quick little note of thanks!

The stamps are photopolymer making the stripes easy to line up.  I stamped from top to bottom aligning the edge of the stamp with the inked image above it, and cleaned the stamp between each colour to avoid a muddy inky mess.  I liked this colourway and proceeded to make a birthday card too.

Which part of the catalogue will you take inspiration from and where will your creativity take you?

As always, happy crafting,

A Big Thank You for Global Design Project 146

I found myself casing my own project for this card...that sounds very grand doesn't it?!  It actually means that I really liked a card that I'd made previously, and I used the same elements (because they were still on my desk!!).

This card is created for Global Design Project 146, which this week is a sketch challenge.

http://www.global-design-project.com/2018/07/global-design-project-146-sketch.html

I love most things heart-shaped, so this sketch really appeals to me, but rather surprisingly I have only used one little heart on my card.  Instead, I have teamed up the small stitched circle from the Stitched Label Framelits with the flower from the Springtime Impressions thinlits to form the central pattern.  The stripes and sentiment come from the wonderful A Big Thank You stamp set.  This set has plenty of sentiments, some flowers, elements for pattern building and there is even a tiny heart!

The colours I have used are Merry Merlot, Mossy Meadow and Mint Macaron.  The subtle embossing folder is one of my favourite accessories at the moment.  It adds just that little extra bit of dimension.  I have used the small gems add sparkle and the natural thread to tie a dainty bow to complete the look.

This is the card I'd made previously.  As you can see, there are similarities between the cards, but they are different.

I hope you like my variations on a theme.  Which do you prefer?

Lift Me Up Meets Waterfront

Welcome to my blog today.  I made this card for Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights for July.  The theme for this month is TRAVEL and I'm super excited to be taking part again.  The best bit about this Highlight is that you can vote for your favourite five projects.   The top ten winners will get the chance to be part of an international blog hop in the future so I would really appreciate it if you would VOTE for my project.

http://bit.ly/VoteformeKyliesHighlightsJuly

To gather inspiration for my card today I have done a little travelling around Pinerest and my boxes of cards that I have received as swaps from stamping events.  I found several cards with hot air balloons on and thought that they fitted the travel theme quite well.  I have never been in a hot air balloon, but when I see them in the sky I think that they look majestic.  It must be really cool to be floating high up in the sky and to watch what goes on below!

The background picture is made using the Waterfront stamps and the colours I have used are Shaded Spruce, Pool Party and Gray Granite.  The little scene sits on a Shaded Spruce square to create a frame and the hot air balloon rises towards the mountains.  The travel theme is reinforced by stamping Bon Voyage using the letters from the Make a Difference stamps.  I couldn't resist some sparkle so I have added a gem to the balloon and a spritz of shimmer from my Wink of Stella spray.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I do hope you have enjoyed this project.  I'd be really happy if you visited the gallery and voted for my project!

Springtime Impressions Thank You

Welcome back to my blog today.  I have another card to share with you using the Abstract Impressions bundle - the special feature of this card is in the embossing.  The beautiful Springtime Impressions die (yes, you did read that correctly!) was used, in conjunction with a special Big Shot embossing mat, to create this embossing.  Wow!

Framelits, Thinlits and Edgelit dies can do more when paired with the embossing mats!  You can use dies that have decorative ejection holes for additional embossing or use cutting dies to emboss instead of cut.  Wow!  Imagine the possibilities.

I have used two shades of colour from one ink pad for the flowers and the leaves.  By using full strength ink (first stamped impression) the stamped image is a dark shade.  A lighter shade of the same colour can be made by first stamping off the image onto a scrap piece of paper and then using a second generation of ink on the actual project.  It makes for a very coordinated look and lends itself really well to these two-step stamps.

The fabulous embossing is the star of the show on this card, so I only added a simple sentiment and a twist of Linen Thread to finish it off.

As always, happy crafting,
