Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop - Christmas in July

Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I am taking part in a blog hop with some fellow enthusiasts who love sharing their creative talents using their Stampin' Up!® products. This month in the Stamping Inkspirations blog hop we are creating projects with a Christmas in July theme.

There were several inspirational pictures and colour combinations to choose from this month. I selected the traditional green and red combo to work with.

The colours are Granny Apple Green, Garden Green, Real Red, Crumb Cake and Pecan Pie. I managed to incorporate every colour except for Crumb Cake!

The Christmas theme and the green colours immediately made me think of the Frosted Forest bundle. It's one of the new Online Exclusive offerings - I have used a few on my card today!

I stamped the outline of the trees using Garden Green, to provide a dark, structured outline, and then filled in the body of the tree by adding ink through the masks using blending brushes. There are three masks to create layers of colour giving depth to the images. I used two layers of Granny Apple Green, creating a deeper shade, before adding a final layer of Garden Green.

I created a selection of trees on Basic White and Granny Apple Green card and then die cut some of them using the coordinating dies. In addition, I used one of the circle dies from the Spotlight on Nature set to cut part of a tree out. Then I layered it up over a Granny Apple Green tree and added another smaller tree in the foreground.

Heat embossing is one of my favourite techniques to use, and so I couldn't resist adding some for the greeting. It's another new Online Exclusive set called Greetings of the Season (the DSP comes in a 6" x 6" stack called Iconic Celebrations). To continue the tree theme I embossed the matting layer of  Garden Green card using the Timber 3-d folder. I added some gold trim and a few of the gold Blooming Pearls to
coordinate with the gold heat embossing.

I am happy to have tried out so many of the new Online Exclusive products on this card and can't wait to use them again. Whilst I cannot believe that we are already in July, I am grateful to have made a start to my Christmas cards!

This was so much fun to put together and I hope that I have inspired you. Please continue along the hop to see what the others have created too...enjoy the projects! We would love to hear from you and so if you have been inspired, please leave a comment.

Thank you so much for joining me today for the All Star Design Team Video Class Bundle Blog Hop for July 2024.
At the start of each month, each of creates another project using the featured suite of products to give you even more inspiration. Here is my additional Full of Life Suite project.

I was on a mission to use an entire sheet of paper for my project today - I wanted minimal waste (without saving left over pieces to use another day!) and this is what I came up with. The small, bright tiles of colour really appealed to me. The spectrum of colours provides you with so many choices for coordination. I plumped for Coastal Cabana.

The sheet of DSP is cut vertically into two evenly sized pieces from which I trimmed one of the rows of tiny squares (note to self - cut them off before splitting the paper in two and then they can be used to decorate the inside!).

I created a landscape cardbase from Thick Basic White card, choosing the height to accommodate the shortened DSP. The side flaps house the half sheet of DSP which creates an overlap over the middle of the card. Before adhering the DSP to the card I added texture using the Distressed Tile 3-d embossing folder - it gives them a mosaic feel.

I stamped and white heat embossed the so excited for you words on to Coastal Cabana card a couple of times. Then, I snipped them apart into smaller sections and
arranged them on two nesting circles, cut using the Spotlight on Nature dies together with some foliage from the Full of Life bundle and a Bakers Twine bow.  To add this decoration to the card I used some of the left over Basic White to create a belly band - it's about three squares deep. The circles sit proudly in the middle of the card front.

This suite caught my eye right from the start - the heart die cut did it! Now I have had a chance to create with it, I love the whole suite. The brightly coloured papers, the shimmery gems and of course the die cuts are all fabulous to work with. I hope you feel inspired to create with it too. Let me know what you think in the comments below. If you would like more ideas using this suite you can purchase the tutorial bundle (along with previous tutorials) HERE

Thank you so much for visiting today. Click on the names below to hop around and see all the other amazing projects. Enjoy! If you live in the UK you can purchase these products below.

New at SU! - A Sketch Challenge

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today, I am participating in the New at SU! blog hop. We are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who are full of creative papercrafting ideas to share with you to get you crafting. We are using the sketches on page 22 of the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire us this month.

Quite by chance, the sketch I chose to use to kick start my creativity is also one of the featured sketches in Stampin' Up!'s creative challenge for June. This is one of their interpretations of the sketch.

Whenever I am lucky enough to visit a butterfly house I always hope that I will be able to see one of the stunning Blue Morph butterflies - they are huge and their wings are the most beautiful shade of blue. There is such a gorgeous iridescence to them. So, with that in mind, I used the
Sketched Butterflies bundle for my card. Together with  some circles cut with the Stylish Shapes dies.

I began with a top folding Thick Basic White card base. For the central pannel shown in the sketch I added a layer, embossed with one of the Fun Patterns folders, with a slightly wider layer of Boho Blue card. The Fun Patterns folders, which come as a pair, are part of the Online Exclusive offering and their narrow width is perfect for this layout.

The largest butterfly is stamped in Basic Gray and coloured with Blends - I used both Balmy Blue and Boho Blue - together with a liberal coating of Wink of Stella to create the sheen!

The other butterflies are also treated to a coating of Wink of Stella before curling the wings between my thumb and bone folder and mounting them on my card. I decided to adapt the sketch slightly by mounting the smaller stamped butterfly on a dimensional, but without another die cut circle. The shape of the layout is still the same! Finally, I added a trio of Iridescent Faceted Gems.

I hope that you have been inspired by my card and the sketch today. Continuing along the hop to the others you will find more inspiration and project ideas - you are currently with me, Furry Cat Designs by Karen Henderson - but before you hop on to the next post, please take a moment to leave a comment. We love reading your comments!
