More colouring with the Beautiful You stamps

When I was deciding what to make at my last card class I knew that I wanted to focus on the Beautiful You stamps.  After all, the ladies are glamorous and stylish and the sentiments are suitable for a wide range of occasions.  As I made my cards I realised that there was another point to focus on (and it is quite on trend at the moment), and that is colouring techniques.

In my previous post, which also features the Beautiful You stamps, I used the new watercolour pencils to colour the image and the Stampin' Write markers to create the multi coloured sentiment.  This time, the colour all comes from the ink pad.  Even the ladies dress is coloured using ink from the ink pad.

First, stamp the image (I used Dapper Denim) on to Shimmery White card.  Then, when the ink pad is closed, squeeze the case gently so that some ink from the pad transfers to the lid.  When the ink pad is opened again you have a ready made palette of exactly the right colour.  Finally, pick up some ink from the lid with either an aqua painter or a blender pen and colour the dress.  Easy coordination.

Layered ovals, using both the stitched framelits and the layering oval framelits, surround the image.  It almost looks like she is viewing herself in a mirror!

The Sweet Sugarplum layer is decorated, with a repeated pattern of words down the left hand side, using matching ink and finished off with a knotted piece of Dapper Denim ribbon.  She looks just gorgeous.  I hope you like her too.
