Nature's Sweetness for Global Design Project CASE Challenge

Hello and welcome to my blog. My card was inspired by this week's Global Design Project's CASE challenge. To CASE a project is to Copy And Selectively Edit the original to create your own new project. Our starting point is this beautiful card by Cindy Timmers.

The features that I have chosen to copy are the trio of circles, the narrow sentiment strip and the decorative foliage. I wanted to use the Nature's Sweetness Suite and decided to use a neutral pallette.

To create my focal points I masked out the words on the vanilla plant image before stamping it on to Basic White card using Pecan Pie ink then used a circle die from the Stylish Shapes set to crop it out. I created three circles this way and in addition I also stamped a fourth image that was die cut using the coordinating die from the Lovely and Sweet set. Pecan Pie leaves were die cut using the tall, thin die and the sentiment is stamped onto Crumb Cake card using the Pecan Pie ink.

The base card is Thick Basic White on top of which I added the background - there is a double layer of Pecan Pie card - the decorated layer being marginally smaller. I stamped a selection of images to break up the open space and add interest. Some of them are stamped at full strength, such as the Field Notes, and others are stamped off first in order to create a lighter impression. Next, I embossed the layer with the Exposed Brick folder and distressed one of the corners to separate the layers of paper. Using a Blending Brush I swirled Crumb Cake and Pecan Pie inks around the edges to create a frame.

To assemble the card I wrapped Linen Thread around the layers and staggered the circles. I lined up the die-cut/detailed image behind the lowest of the circles allowing the vanilla pods to extend beyond the stitched detail on the circles. I snipped apart some of the Pecan Pie die cut leaves and tucked them behind the flower circles before added a loosely tied Linen Thread bow behind the sentiment strip. Theer's also a trio of Iridescent Pearls and the merest hint of shimmer on the flowers using Wink of Stella.

I love the way this has turned out - I think it's a fantastic layout for a card, and I'll definately being using it as a starting point again! Do you need any of the products  used on today's card?
