Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I am delighted to be taking part in the Ink and Inspiration blog hop for January 2024.
This month our inspiration is two-fold; we can use the beautiful bright colours or the idylic scene depicted in the picture (or both!).
At first I was a little daunted by the colour pallette, but I quickly decided to loosely follow the composition in the picture which settled my nervousness, and I managed to use all the colours, except for Poppy Parade. I can see daisies in the picture so I decided to use the Dainty Delight stamps and dies. I also took some inspiration from the Daisy Delight sample on page 23 of the Annual Catalogue.
To begin with I die cut a mixture of frames using the Scalloped Contour dies - I used a selection of colours just to see how they played with each other. Next, I cut a few pieces of Basic White card to nest inside the smaller of the two frames. This was going to be the canvas for my scene.
In my head I decided that I wanted the background to be two tone to represent grass/field and sky. Granny Apple Green and Azure Afternoon are bright and happy colours that scream sunny afternoon! I tried inking up a block with ink, spritzing it with water and stamping it onto the card and also using blending brushes to swirl the colour on. Both methods were successful, but I preferred the more subtle colour created by the blending brushes.
I stamped the sprays of flowers and foliage using StazOn ink and watercoloured them with inks applied with a Wink of Stella brush. Not only is the colour washed out, but there is a gorgeous shimmer to it too. Before adhering the coloured flowers on the background I also added some die cut elements which helped to fill out the arrangement. I love the pops of colour they provide. Of course, I had to add a Baker's Twine bow and some Iridescent Pearls too! Once the little canvas was ready I could decide which of the frames looked the best.
I hope that you are inspired by my card today and that you will continue along the hop to see what the others have created too - click on the names below to enjoy their projects. We would love to hear from you and so if you have been inspired, please leave a comment.

Oh my goodness! What a beautiful card!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Teah - glad you like it!
DeleteSuch a wonderful card, Karen! Love how you pulled in some of the neutral InColors to tone so well with the colors you chose. Thanks for the inspiration. x
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you like it Angie. I only used the colours from the challenge - honestly! Some of them are very watered down because I coloured with Wink of Stella and a layer of Melon Mambo is covered with Vellum which muted it a little
DeleteLovely card Karen, loving all the layers and textures x
ReplyDeleteThanks Mo - I was in my element adding the layers!
