I created a tri-fold card from an entire sheet of Melon Mambo card and dividing it into thirds. The front and back panels are decorated with Designer Series Paper from the Sail Away suite, but for the middle panel I created my own patterned card by repeatedly stamping in Balmy Blue ink tone on tone onto Balmy Blue card with the cluster of small flowers.
The flowers I visualised in my mind's eye were roses and forget-me-nots (but I'm not sure whether they actually flower at the same time?!), so I chose Melon Mambo and Balmy Blue to colour with. The centre of the forget-me-nots is a golden yellow colour that I have made by mixing Mango Melody ink with a few drops of Frost White Shimmer Paint. I'm really pleased with the effect. Just imagine the rainbow of possibilities...Frost White Shimmer mixed with any colour ink! I used Old Olive ink and (neat/unmixed) Frost White shimmer paint to colour the foliage.
The flower borders, together with some smaller clusters of flowers to fill in the gaps, were mounted to the slanting edges of the card using glue dots. Finally, I added a few Gingham Gala sequins to the panels.
I am participating in Kylie's International Blog Highlights for August where the theme is Encouragement. I'm hoping that this card filled with love and celebration fits the bill.
Thank you for visiting my blog today. I hope you approve of my card and that you'll visit the gallery and vote for me! because the best bit about this Highlight is that you can vote for your favourite five projects in the gallery. At the end of the voting the top ten winners will get the chance to be part of an international blog hop that will happen at the end of August. I would love to take part in the hop, so I would really appreciate it if you would visit the gallery and vote for my card.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Melinda. It was fun to make!
DeleteGreat colouring. I've not yet used this stamp set because the colouring scares me but you have made it look stunning that I might have to give it a go
ReplyDeleteVickie, you are very kind.
DeleteHave a go at colouring the flowers - it is easier than yo think and works well with Blends or ink. I need to try it with pencils too!
The tri-fold card works so well with those flowers. Love the versatility of this card too. Thanks Karen for being part of my international highlights this month! All the best with the voting.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kylie. Yes! The sentiment can be used for so many occasions and the flowers are fabulous to bring to life with colours.
