Coming up roses with Beautiful Friendship

Welcome back to my blog. This time I have another Beautiful Friendship birthday card to share with you. I am playing along with the colour challenge at The Paper Players!

http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com/2019/07/p450-color-challenge-from-leanne.html

The challenge is to use the colour combination of Blueberry Bushel, Balmy Blue and Granny Apple Green to create a project. It is a bold combination they said. These colors are great for masculine cards, they said. But, you can use them for other occasions as well, which is what I did!

When I was very much younger I loved visiting my grandparents and also their garden. It was filled with so many pretty flowers. The ones that I remember the most fondly are the fuschias, with petals like ballerina skirts, and the roses. Fragrent ones, blousey ones and a particular one that was a gorgeous blue mauve colour. I think it was called Blue Moon, but I could be mistaken as it was quite a long time ago!
Anyway, I saw this colour combination and I immediately thought of the flowers in my grandparents garden and wanted to take a trip down Memory Lane, and this is what I created.

I stamped the blossom stamp three times over the Whisper White layer (stamping off first each time) to create a hazy bloom of colour. Next, I stamped the roses in Blueberry Bushel across the middle of the card. Smaller flowers were stamped in full strength Balmy Blue to fill in the gaps, followed by some Granny Apple Green foliage and finally some flower sprays stamped in Blueberry Bushel (which were stamped off first).

I tried a few combinations of words using the Well Said stamps and Well Written dies, and finally settled on a stamped Happy and a die-cut Birthday. The white layer is mounted on top of a Granny Apple Green one and then onto a Blueberry Bushel base card (and that was a challenge, as I have now used up every last scrap of that card - I guess I need to add that to my next order!). There is a little Wink of Stella spritzed over the top of the finished card to add a touch of sparkle.

Thank you for joining me today for my trip down Memory Lane. I hope you like the pretty roses as much as I do!

    1. Thanks, LeAnne.
I had forgotten about the peonies. My grandparents had them too. I wasn’t familiar with bachelor’s buttons, until I googled them. I know them as cornflowers, and they had those as well. They were a fabulous Blueberry Bushel blue colour!
