Hello, and welcome to my blog. Today, I am sharing a clean and simple masculine card inspired by the challenge over at The Paper Players.
I have been itching to get out the Sailing Home bundle again and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. To me, the nautical theme teamed with the classic navy and white colour combination screams perfection for a masculine themed card. I hope you agree.
I couldn't resist combining the sailing theme with the sentiments and dies from the Silhouette Scenes bundle. They are so apt and encouraging.
I have only used Night of Navy ink for my card. However, for some of the images I used the second generation of ink, by stamping off on to scrap paper before stamping the actual image, to create several shades of the same colour. The knotted rope image and the sentiment are stamped directly onto a Whisper White layer, whilst the compass and lighthouse are stamped and punched or die cut first, before adhering to them to the card. The adventure is die cut from Balmy Blue card and adhered to take centre stage on the card.
I have kept the layers on this card to a minimum to comply with the Clean and Simple criteria. For the same reason, I had to remind myself not to add any extra elements - so I tidied away the coordinating trinkets and Bakers Twine to stop myself from adding them! I'm not sure that Clean and Simple is my natural style. I find it difficult to leave expanses of white space! I am happy with the way this evolved but I did have to remind myself of the phrase "less is more".
Thank you for joining me today. If you want to purchase the items used for this card, or any other supplies, please take a look in my online Stampin' Up! shop. You can follow the link or click on the pictures below of the products I have used today.

I think this is PERFECT! I love the sailing theme, and the "adventure" is just bold enough to stand out atop your nautical images! I am going to have to check out those dies for sure! Thanks for sharing this with us at the Players this week!
ReplyDeleteThanks LeAnne - your comment has put a big smile on my face! I originally bought the dies with the idea of scapbooking photos from my daughters travelling adventures, so I am really pleased that they work so well with this set too!
DeleteGreat background you created with the rope! I love the adventure in the blue! Awesome card for anyone. Thanks for playing along with theme challenge this week over at The Paper Players!
ReplyDeleteAh, thank you Windy. I used the hinge technique with my Stamparatus to create the rope background!
DeleteWhat a perfect masculine card, Karen! The Navy and White color scheme is perfect for a nautical card, while the Balmy Blue die cut adds a wonderful contrast. Thank you so much for playing in my Clean and Simple Masculine challenge at The Paper Players this week, and congratulations on your pick as A Cut Above!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Ann for your kind comment. I really appreciate it and I am thrilled that my card was picked as 'A Cut Above!'
