OnStage Swaps

Welcome back to my blog today.  Yesterday afternoon, I travelled to Birmingham with my friend.  We were feeling giddy with excitement.  The wait was almost over and it was almost time for us to join in the Stampin' Up! Anniversary celebrations.  Anticipation was mounting and we were fit to burst!  We remembered to bring along with us our swaps and a few supplies to help prepare the make and takes that will be available for us to make during the day at OnStage.

When this is published on Saturday morning, OnStage Local in Birmingham will be in full swing.  There will be swapping with fellow demonstrators as we wait with baited breath for show to start.

I’m delighted to reveal the swaps I have made.  The production line was fun, albeit time consuming, and involved cutting card stock, die cutting and embossing with my Big Shot and stamping using my Stamparatus.  Altogether I made 50 cards.  Don’t they look wonderful all lined up and ready to go to a new home?  I do hope that they make people smile and provide them with inspiration.

The Soft Suede Rooted in Nature card was a big hit at a recent card class, so I decided to reproduce it as a swap.  Triple panels of Designer Series Paper (DSP) have featured in the last few cards that I have shared, and this card is where the idea stemmed from!!  I think it is quite striking, and just a little bit different from the more usual full panel of DSP on the front of a card.

The words ‘You are Wonderful’ from the Rooted in Nature set because they are simply wonderful, and who wouldn’t want to receive a card with those words on it?  As this is Stampin’ Up!’s 30th Anniversary I wanted to add some pearls, which is the recognised celebration for this milestone anniversary.  So, a trio of basic pearls snuggle neatly next to the words.

I curled the leaves using my bone folder and attached them in a cascading fashion, using glue dots, to give the illusion of falling leaves.  Each leaf has been painted with the Wink of Stella pen for a shimmery finish.  I also used glue dots to secure the metallic thread.

After exhausting my supply of Soft Suede DSP, I decided that I wanted to make some more cards using the same layout.  I think the Tranquil Tide pattern works like a charm for this design!  I stamped the Very Vanilla and Mint Macaron leaves using Tranquil Tide ink before swishing them with the Wink of Stella pen.  This time there is silver metallic thread behind them.

My third card uses the Tea Room papers and shares some of the design features of the first two cards.  My Stitched Label framelit die has definitely earned its keep while I produced these swap cards!  As the label is cut from Tranquil Tide card I chose to use gold heat embossing for the sentiment this time.  It gives a raised shiny finish to the words and they show up clearly on the dark background.

The gold edged Coastal Cabana Tea Room ribbon threads through the doily-like holes and brings together the colours used throughout the card.  I love that Stampin’ Up! Products coordinate so well.  Creating a project with matching elements really is effortless.  Here are all three cards posing for a different type of group shot!

Today is sure to be a fun packed day!  Sharing this experience with a huge room full of like minded people is so special.  Why not consider becoming a Demonstrator?  Then you could be part of it too!
