Simply Stamping Snowflakes

The Snow is Glistening stamp set is simply stunning and I love creating with it.  I have taken the simple card design that I used last time and reworked it with cool colours and snowflakes to create thank you cards for customers who have purchased products from the Snowflake Showcase this month.  There is still time to buy from this limited edition suite, but act quickly because products are only available until 30th November (or while supplies last).

I had fun making the patterned background using a technique that I hadn't used for a while.  The wet wipe technique is a means to create a temporary ink pad from a couple of folded wet wipes and a selection of reinkers.  I wanted a cool palette, so I chose to use Night of Navy, Highland Heather, Pool Party and Balmy Blue reinkers.  It is really easy to do, and each time the results are different and unique.  All you have to do is place a couple of wet wipes, folded in half, onto a non-porous surface (I used an empty clear-mount stamp case) and then drop two or three drops of reinker on to the surface.  For the best results you should randomly drop each colour, allowing them to mingle.  This is your temporary ink pad.

The colours fade and loose their intensity as you use it, but it is good go for quite a while, creating one of a kind images each time.  The beauty of it is that you can throw away the wet wipe and start a fresh with all new colours.

The background is stamped using the Christmas tree image from the Snow is Glistening set and my 'inkpad' made from reinkers and wet wipes.  The tree is stamped repeatedly, lining up the edges to cover a large area.  I used the coordinating Snowfall dies to cut out the Highland Heather flourish and the individual vellum snowflakes to add detail to the card front.  Next, I stamped Thanks from the A Big Thank You set directly on to the card front.  The Night of Navy ink and the bold stamp stand out clearly against the snowflakes.

The final touch was to add several gems and a spritz of sparkly Wink of Stella spray. (A mixture of alcohol and Wink of Stella in a spray bottle).  You can just catch a glimpse of the sparkle in the picture!

The ingredients that you will need to make this card are as follows:

Standard card base from Night of Navy

(1/2 sheet of A4) 14.8cm x 21cm, scored and forded at 10.5cm
Balmy Blue layer 7.5cm x 11.8cm
Whisper White to stamp snowflakes on 7.5cm x 7.5cm
Highland Heather layer 8.0cm x 12.3cm
Extra Highland Heather card to punch ribbon and die cut swirl from

Vellum cardstock to die cut snowflakes from

And the finished card!
