Thank You, Shelli Gardner

Hello and welcome to my blog.  I'm delighted to be taking part in Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights for November.  The theme for this month is to say Thank You, Shelli Gardner.  Stampin' Up! is celebrating their 30th Anniversary, so what better way to say THANK YOU to Shelli than #makeacardsendacard.

The best bit about this Highlight is that you can vote for your favourite five projects.  The top ten winners will get the chance to be part of an international blog hop at the end of this month.  I would love to take part in the hop so I would really appreciate it if you would visit the gallery and VOTE for my card.

I have used the fabulous First Frost bundle to make my card and, as it is the 30th Anniversary for the company, I wanted to incorporate some pearl elements too.  The starting point for my wreath was a pearlised doily from the Share What You Love suite in the Annual Catalogue.  Not only does it have a pearlised finish, but, being a doily means that there are plenty of holes/slots which are extremely convenient for weaving stems through!

The colours I chose to use are strong, yet feminine.  I have mixed the richness of Blackberry Bliss and Fresh Fig with some shiny gold foil.  The Shimmery White card is wonderful to stamp on and adds a touch of luxury.  I die cut multiple sprays of foliage from gold foil and Gray Granite.  Using a dauber I painted the Gray Granite stems with Frost White Shimmer paint transforming them into pearly silver branches.  Then, I wove the stems into the doily to create a wreath.

I die cut several small flowers and thistles from some more Shimmery White card and with the aid of my Stamparatus I stamped them with a mixture of Blackberry Bliss and Fresh Fig inks.  I used a sponge dauber to ink up the stamps, so I was able to have two tone thistles - the stalks are Tranquil Tide.  I placed them around the wreath, securing them with glue dots and decorating the flowers with more pearls to continue the theme.

The wreath is fairly large and is mounted onto a 4" square piece of Fresh fig card, resulting in rather an unconventionally sized finished card.  The 5" sauare tent shaped base is made from Shimmery White card.  The white border is decorated using the foilage stamp from this set using Fresh Fig ink (stamping off first onto scrap card to give a paler image).  The message in the centre is just perfect and I love the script too.  It comes from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set.

Thank you for visiting me today.  If you have enjoyed my project I'd be really grateful if you visited the gallery and voted for my project!
