Nature's Poem for Kylie's Demonstrator Training Blog Hop November 2018

Welcome to my blog today.  I am taking part in Kylie's Demponstrator Training Blog Hop with other Demonstrators from all over the world.  There is no given theme for this hop, but there is sure to be plenty of creativity and inspiration along the way.

My card today is made using card, paper, stamps, ink and a punch.  Simple.  I have used the Rooted in Nature stamps and the Nature's Poem Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Who do you know that would love to recieve a card with that sentiment on?

It is a very easy card to put together but I think that it is stylish in its simplicity, and it has the added bonus of being completely flat, and hence easy to post.  By changing the papers, colours or stamps the card can be customised and completely changed.  Indeed, I have used this card layout before with the Petal Promenade papers for a celebration card, that you can see here.

The ingredients that you will need to make this card are as follows:

Standard card base (1/2 sheet of A4) 14.8cm x 21cm, scored and forded at 10.5cm
Neutral layer 7.5cm x 11.8cm
DSP 7.5cm x 7.5cm
Contrasting layer 8.0cm x 12.3cm
Extra card to punch ribbon from

I took some photos as I was putting this card together to show you how quick and easy it is to create.
The cut elements look like this:

As the piece of patterned paper measures just 7.5cm x 7.5cm, you can cut 16 of them from one piece of Designer Series Paper!!  The paper actually looks bigger on the finished card.  It is one of those optical illusions that tricks your eyes and it's all because of a little diagonal cut!

You neet to mark the paper 2.5cm from the bottom on the left hand side and 2.5cm from the top on the right hand side and cut the paper diagonally between the marks, so that it looks like this:

The decorative ribbon border punch creates the paper ribbon which is stuck to the reverse side of the decorative paper using Tombow liquid glue.

These decorative pieces are then adhered to the top and bottom of the neutral layer of card thus creating a gap for the sentiment to be stamped on to.

This layer is mounted onto a contrasting layer and then finally onto the card base.  And, here it is complete.

I have made another couple of cards using the same sentiment, but featuring different papers from the Nature's Poem pack.

I hope you can see that this is card is simple to put together, yet still packs a punch!  Thank you so much for visiting my blog today and for being part of our blog hop!  I really hope that you find lots of ideas that inspire you to create something special.  You are currently at my blog - Karen Henderson.  So check the list below to see who is next on the list.  Make sure you don't miss any!

It's even simpler than a die...I used a punch (Decorative Ribbon Border). Easy!

    1. Thanks, Christy. The Ribbon Border punch does a great job creating a contrasting edge. And you get a choice of two finishes!
