Nature's Sweetness Suite for International Blog Highlights February 2024

Hello and welcome to my blog. This is my card to entry to Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights for February 2024 - the theme is Thank you. I have used the Nature's Sweetness Suite to create this Thank You card.

I am really taken with the eclectic style of this suite and I've really enjoyed creating with it. My focal image makes reference to a well thumbed through notebook by using the Field Notes stamp and the die cut ring binder holes. I was thinking of the pages of a gratitude journal; a place where you record every day things that make you happy of grateful. It could be remembering a kind deed or noticing the beauty in nature.

A kind deed deserves a pretty thank you card, which is where this card comes in! Two layers of Basic White card sit on top of the Pebbled Path base card. One of the layers is embossed with the Timeworn Type folder - I'm keeping with the worn journal theme!

I inked up the Field Notes stamp with Versamark and Pebbled Path inks, stamped onto Pebbled Path card before heat embossing it with clear powder. Using both inks at the same time allows you time to apply the embossing powder before the coloured ink dries and yields a coloured, shiny image. After die cutting the hole punched edge I used a Blending Brush to tint the edges of the page. The corners were curled and separated to add to the well-loved look.

Heat embossing is one of my favourite techniques to use so I couldn't resist adding some more to my card. I stamped the botanical almond image onto Vellum and heat embossed it in white. After die cutting the imge I coloured the flowers from the reverse side using the dark Moody Mauve Blend. I really like the subtle colour coming through at the front of the image.

The botanical image is adhered to the card using strategically placed Glue Dots and decorated further with a few die cut elements. I love the little tab die! I used a scrap of paper to cover over most of the words on the thanks for making me smile stamp thereby isolating just the thanks ready for inking and heat embossing. It was then easy to create a tab saying thanks which was then tucked under the layer/page.

I'll be sending out this card soon - I really enjoyed making it! As mentioned at the beginning I am entering Kylie's International Blog Highlights and you can follow the link to the gallery where you will find heaps more inspiration AND you can vote for your favourite five projects. At the end of the voting the Top Ten winners will be invited to take part in a blog hop at the end of the month.

Detailed Dogwood for #GDP430

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today, I am sharing a card inspired by this week's Sketch Challenge over at the Global Design Project.

I love following a sketch. You add details to a layout that you know will work. My Detailed Dogwood stamps from Sale-A-Bration had not seen any ink, so I wanted to create a card with them to rectify that.

I stamped the image on to Basic White card using Basic Gray ink which gives a warmer appearance than Balck Memento but still allows you to colour with Blends. The stamps have shading lines within them to indicate the areas to colour more deeply. For the flowers I used both the light and dark Petal Pink Blends on the petals and the centres are Daffodil Delight. The leaves are a mixture of Granny Apple Green and Soft Sea Foam and there is a hint of Pecan Pie on the stalks.

Following the sketch, I cut two layers using the Radiating Stitches dies from Basic White and Pecan Pie card. The white one was covered with floral images using second generation Basic Gray ink for a paler impression. The two layers were offset and adhered to a further, distressed and embossed layer of Basic White. I used the Timeworn Type embossing folder and then my scissors to create the rough edges adding a couple of stamped dragonflies to the background to add to the distressed look.

I took my Snips and fussy cut the coloured image, then curled it by pulling it between my bone folder and thumb to give some dimension to the petals and leaves. It is mounted onto the card with mini dimensionals. Finally, I added a faux tag, Linen Thread bow and some Cork Rounds to complete the card.

I'm really pleased with the vintage, shabby chic appearance of the card. Hope you like it too. Do you need any of the products  used on today's cards? Perennial Lavender Suite Thank You for the International Blog Highlights Winner's Hop

Hello and welcome to my blog. Earlier in the month, I participated in Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights and after the voting had closed I was delighted to find myself in the Top Ten!

Thank you so much to everyone who visited the gallery and voted for my card. If you missed it, you can read all about it here. I am absolutely thrilled to be eligible to take part in this winner's hop.

For my card for today I am using the Perennial Lavender Suite again. Indeed, I have decided to use up some of the extra elements I prepared for my original card, so this card has a similar colour combination, with a different look. There is a mixture of stamped and die-cut images, die-cut card and also die-cut DSP. The Lost Lagoon foliage is cut from DSP - its appearance is not quite as solid looking as card stock.

I gathered the pieces and arranged them into a little bouquet and used a mixture of glue dots and mini dimensionals to secure them together. Then I tied them together with some Linen Thread.

I am using the Perennial Postage dies for the first time! I cut two the same size and off-set them as a foil for the hand-tied flowers. One is cut from Blackberry Bliss and the other is cut from DSP. The DSP is embossed using the Sale-a-Bration Softly Sophisticated folder, which was supposed to be mounted with the other side facing uppermost for more contrast! Oops, I made a mistake, so I made it again with slightly different colours.

For the sentiment I cut two small banners from the Postage dies. Firstly, I stamped the simple Thank You from the Timeless Arrangements set on the Crumb Cake one using Blackberry Bliss ink. The Blackberry Bliss one is split into two pieces before adhering to the Crumb Cake one so that a small portion extends from each end.

I am pleased that I was able to make another card using treasures from my desk. Click on the names below to hop around and see the other fabulous projects. Enjoy! I hope you have been inspired today - please leave a comment let me know what you think, and if you live in the UK you can purchase these products below.
