Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I am taking part in a blog hop with some fellow enthusiasts who love sharing their creative talents using their Stampin' Up!® products. This month in the Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop we have a Sketch to inspire us.
In addition to this wonderful sketch there is also a theme to bear in mind. The Fresh Air theme may throw up some interesting variations depending upon which part of the world we are creating in!
Of late, we have experienced some unseasonally heavy rainfall in the UK, so I am utilising one of the new Online Exclusive sets, which will be available in November, called Umbrella Days. It's so apt for the rainy weather!
I copied the sketch literally, creating a wide border beneath the decorated layer, adding ripped edges and some decorative twine.
I pulled out my Full of Life papers wanting to use their bright, happy colours. For the ripped layer I selected a design that made me think of rainbows - not strictly the correct shape, but the array of colours suggests a rainbow!
The reverse side of these papers has washes of colour rather than a distinct pattern - I selected a sheet that graduated from blues through to greens for my background. I stamped the image using Basic Gray ink on Basic White card and a sheet of DSP and then die cut them both using the coordinating dies. I took my Snips to the patterned piece and trimmed away the umbrella and then adhered that to the plain Basic White image. All the other details were coloured using Stampin' Blends - not too much blending because the image is quite small. Just adding a darker shade to the creases/lines shown on the stamp.
To coordinate perfectly, the sentiment is stamped on to a spare piece of DSP, again using Basic Gray ink. The image and the sentiment are both popped up on dimensionals over the Baker's Twine wrapped around the middle of the layer. The Riverside Irregular pearls have a wonderful watery sheen that I could't resist using to finish off the decoration. They are another Online Exclusive product which will be available in November.
Using a sketch as a starting point always really helps me because then you only have to add details. I am hoping for some fairer skies to encourage me to venture out for more walks...otherwise I will have to do more crafting! Please continue along the hop to see how the others have interpreted this sketch...enjoy the projects! We would love to hear from youand so if you have been inspired, please leave a comment.
