Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I am delighted to be taking part in the Ink and Inspiration blog hop for December.
For our inspiration this month we are using this sketch.
Sketches are a great starting point for a card, the structure is there and all you have to do is add the detail! At work I share my birthday with a collegue which, for a relatively small working environment, is quite surprising. Today is our birthday!
I've made two versions of the same card from one pack of Designer Series Paper. The cooler version was sent for a birthday celebrated yesterday, and the floral version is for my collegue. They are both made using the Softly Stippled papers which will be available as a Sale-A-Bration choice from 4th January.
To make the card I adhered strips of DSP to a layer of Pebbled Path and then embossed the whole layer using the Timeworn Type folder. Next, I stamped a frame from the Heartfelt Hexagon set on to Pebbled Path and used the coordinating punch to cut it out. I stamped the frame a second time on to Pool Party (or Petal Pink card depending on the version!), but this time I took my Snips and fussy cut along the thick, solid line to remove the dots and the edge. Layering the two pieces together creates a framed piece to stamp the sentiment into. I used celebrate from the Softly Said set.
I also used a couple of stamps from the new Notes of Nature set to add splatters and a grid using coordinating ink. The images were stamped off first to add extra depth to the background. The cards are finished with coordinating ribbon, twine and either Rustic Metallic dots or Brushed Metallic dots. Here you can see my cards together to celebrate the birthdays that fall in the lull between Christmas and New Year!
