Home is where the heart is

Today's card is one that I made for our most recent Team Swap.  Members make a number of identical cards that are collated, swapped and redistributed.  It is a great way to gain new ideas and inspiration.
My card uses the At Home With You bundle.  The focal image is a front door, but the stamp set also contains plenty of adornments and helpful sentiments.  I particularly like the Welcome doormat and the little wreath.  The selection includes Winter and Christmas images to dress the door with too.  Over the next few months I know that I'm going to make some of my Christmas cards using this set!
The Brick Wall embosing folder creates the perfect background for my card.  To add some depth to the wall I sponged a little Sahara Sand ink around the edges.  The Crumb Cake paving is slightly darker than the walls which aids the perspective of the scene and it is stamped using one of the Timeless Textures stamps.  The door itself is stamped using black archival ink onto Soft Suede card and is then cut out using the matching framelits.  One of the dies creates a crease on the left handside for the door hinge and cuts round the remaining three sides so that the door can open to reveal a message or you can just die-cut around the door surround.  The choice is yours - open or closed!  The darling little windows are just wonderful!

I have also used the Hardwood stamp to create the woodgrain effect on both sides of the door.  I used Soft Suede ink, but before I stamped onto the door I first stamped off the image onto some scrap paper.  In this way the wood grain image is more subtle.

Flowers are both pretty and homely creating a lovely warm welcome on the doorstep.  These images are stamped on to Very Vanilla card, again using archival black ink.  I have used markers and an aqua painter to colour the images.  Watercolor pencils or ink, transferred to the lid of the pad, and an aqua painter could also be used.  I couldn't resist adding shimmer to the flowers with my Wink Of Stella pen!

I received some amazing swaps that have filled my head with ideas.  Lots to share in the future!

Happy Crafting!
