This month we are featuring the Marbled Elegance Suite Collection which is available as an Online Exclusive (and does not appear in the catalogues). There are stamps, dies, Designer Series Papers, Gold Twisted Thread, Adhesive-backed Heart Sequins and gift bags included in the suite.

At the start of each month, each of creates another project using the featured suite of products to give you even more inspiration. Here is my additional  project.

I have made an easel/tent shaped card for Valentine's Day. I love anything heart shaped so I have been in my element creating with this Suite of products.

The luxurious papers have encouraged me to mix and match pinks and reds together, which is something I rarely do, and to also add some gold heat embossing. The gold foiling on the papers, the gold behind the postage stamps and the heat embossing all complement each other - it's all about the coordination!

This card could easily be a straightforward square card, but I wanted to make it extra special. The square tile is displayed on an easel base using the Happy Valentine's Day sentiment to prop it up. Of course, there is a place to write a message on the inside too.

For the card base I used Real Red card and then layered various pieces of DSP to decorate it. I utilised the Perennial Postage dies to create the backdrop for the die cut hearts, added a bow tied with the fabulous Gold Twisted Thread and, finally, added some of the flat heart embellishments.

I have had so much pleasure creating with this suite, and I hope you feel inspired to create with it too. Let me know what you think in the comments below. If you would like more ideas using this suite you can purchase the tutorial bundle (along with previous tutorials) HERE

Cake Celebrations for the New at SU! Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today, I am participating in the New at SU! blog hop. We are a group of Stampin' Up!® demonstrators from around the world who are full of creative papercrafting ideas to share with you to get you crafting. This month our theme is Tied up with Bows. I love adding bows to my projects whether they are on bags, boxes or cards. They can be used as a closure or they can be purely decorative!

Although I have absolutely loved making batches of Christmas cards, I am now ready for a change. I have several sets which feature cakes but I had to have the Cake Celebrations bundle too - it's an Online Exclusive so you won't see it in a catalogue. Why did I need another cake set? Simply because it reminds me of my mum. When I was growing up she attended sugarcraft classes and I remember her spending hours creating wonderful things to decorate cakes with. She had endless patience an a great attention to detail whether it be smoothing fondent icing or piping 3-d flowers. My most vivid memory is of a Christmas cake topped with a magnificent sleigh pulled by reindeer, and all made from icing.

Anyway, I digress. For my card featuring a bow, I imagined an elegant card with white on white detailing. So I began with tiers of embossed Basic White card layered onto another slightly bigger layer of Basic White. The cake itself is pieced together using die cut elements from the bundle - I used two pieces of card for the layers of the cake to add a tiny lift, without the use of dimensionals. There are white heat embossed elements to decorate the top tier - little tiny flowers or perhaps flowers and the overflowing icing has sparkle

The Berry Burst cardbase provides a pop of colour to match the bow. My colour choice was dictated by a piece of ribbon left over from a previous project, but many more colours would work too.
Iridescent Trim naturally sparkles in the light, but it can also be coloured using Blends. In this case I used Berry Burst. Cutting along the length of the trim gives you a narrower ribbon to tie even more dainty bows with. The iridescent threads still sparkle alongside the coloured background.

A celebration cake needs a fancy stand! This one is cut from Silver Foil, as is the banner on the top. The only additional decoration I added was a teeny flower perched on the top of the cake. I die cut the smallest flower after stamping it using Berry Burst ink. I stamped off first to get a paler image.

I am sure that Mum would have enjoyed creating a cake like this. I set out to create an elegant card. Hopefully, the little details have elevated it to achieve a simple and elegant card! Please continue along the hop as I am sure that the others will provide you with even more inspiration - you are currently with me, Furry Cat Designs by Karen Henderson - but before you hop on to the next post, please take a moment to leave a comment. We love reading your comments!

Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop - Sounds of the Season

Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I am taking part in a blog hop with some fellow enthusiasts who love sharing their creative talents using their Stampin' Up!® products. This month in the Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop we are creating projects to reflect the Sounds of the Season.

I work at a Primary School and there are always lots of Christmas tunes sung at this time of year to get ready for school plays and church services. My Reindeer Days Bundle has not been used as much as I would have liked and I thought this challenge would be a perfect way to rectify that.

This card took me ages to make - not because it is complicated, because it isn't. Initially, I was thinking about Jingle Bells and using the reindeers and the coordinating paper covered with red jingle bells. I tried for a long time. Really I did but, the idea I had in my head wouldn't work on my card. So, after a break I came back and changed my focus from Jingle Bells to Rudolf with his red nose.

I used Real Red, Garden Green and Pool Party, as they are colours that are featured in the Designer Series Paper, for the card base and layers. There's a Real Red layer embossed with the Plaid folder topped with a snowflake embossed layer of Pool Party  and, finally, a green layer with a leafy aperture cut with the fabulous foliage die. I only applied Tombow liquid glue to the very outside edges of the green layer which allowed me to nestle the Rudolf in underneath the foliage.

The dies to construct the reindeer are so clever - for my Rudolf I used a solid Early Espresso layer at the back topped with a Crumb Cake element that creates the inside of the ears, snout and tummy and then the third layer of Pecan Pie frames the features. Just look at those details!

I cut an additional middle layer from Real Red to create the famous red nose. The waste piece perfectly fits into the aperture to change the Early Espresso nose to a Real Red one!

The front is finished with a skinny sentiment and a Baker's Twine bow and on the inside the front flap there is a small pocket into which I can tuck in a gift card.

So, in the end this has turned out to be a super simple card.
Even though it is not what I set out to make, I hope you agree that it's cute and appealing!  Please continue along the hop to see what the others have created too...enjoy the projects! We would love to hear from you and so if you have been inspired, please leave a comment.
