Bright & Beautiful Celebrate cards

Hello and welcome to my blog. I love using Designer Series Paper as the shining star on my cards and I decided to do just that when I created a collection of cards for a Team Swap that I hosted recently. In a nutshell, participants make a batch of identical cards, send them to me and then I swap them so that everyone gets a batch of different cards in return. It's a great way to see different products and styles, and usually means that your wish list grows!

I paired the Bright & Beautiful papers with the Circle Sayings stamp set/punch bundle to create a fun, fresh looking card. As the name suggests the papers are Bright & Beautiful and include an array of zingy colours and the resulting cards are suitable for both little people and adults.

I added a Lemon Lime Twist layer to a Basic White base card and then added a trio of DSP panels. The celebrate circle sentiment is stamped in Azure Afternoon and layered onto a circle of Lemon Lime Twist. Whilst I'm writing this up I have realised that I used a retired circle punch for the white layer, but the middle die from the Stylish Shapes would work too.

The cupcakes from the Circle Sayings stamp set are stamped using Black Memento ink and coloured with Blends. I added a hint of sparkle to the icing, using the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, before fussy cutting them out using my Snips and adding them to the centre of the circle. The layered circle is popped up over a twist of Glittered Organdy Ribbon with a few Iridescent Rhinestones to complement the sparkle.

After I'd finished the batch of cards for the swap I used the same basic recipe to create a few variations on a theme. They are easy to make and quite adaptable. I foresee a version with numbers on for little people's birthdays!

Cheerful Daisies You made my day card for Kylie's International Project Highlights - June 2023

Hello and welcome to my blog. This is my card to entry to Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights for June 2023 - the theme is Thank you. This fun-fold has become one of my favourites and it makes an extra special thank you card. This version uses the Fresh as a Daisy DSP featuring the pinky shades of Moody Mauve and Bubble Bath. By using different papers each time it is easy to give this fun-fold a breath of fresh air and to make each one look new. 

The Moody Mauve card base is a stepped tri-fold yielding several panels ready to be decorated. Each panel includes a layer of Bubble Bath card and then some additional decoration. The largest panel at the back is decorated simply with a patterned piece of the Fresh as a Daisy DSP (which, for the month of June, is on offer as part of the Designer Series Paper Sale). The flowers are bold and bright.

The middle layer, viewed from the front, is embellished with a piece of Moody Mauve card textured with one of the Basics 3-d embossing folders and a matching bow. On the inside of the middle panel there is a Basic White panel, stamped with pretty Bubble Bath flowers, where your special message can be handwritten. 

The front section has a plainer piece of DSP to act as a foil for the stamped and die cut flowers. There's a mixture of white, pink and mauve flowers, for variety and texture, together with some Wild Wheat leaves which echo the patterned DSP on the biggest panel. The sentiment was stamped, snipped apart, mounted with a skinny Bubble Bath layer and then positioned around the edge of the flowers. Even though the front panel is quite small, I managed to add a trio of Iridescent Pearls to complete the look.

Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop - Sketch Challenge

Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I am taking part in a blog hop with some fellow enthusiasts who love sharing their creative talents using their Stampin' Up!® products. This month the Stamping Inkspirations blog hop is sketch challenge.

The starting point for our challenge this month is this sketch.

The Countryside Corners bundle jumped to mind when I saw the cut away corners, but to begin with I was stumped with how to tackle the vertical sentiment! The Alphabest letters and coordinating punch came to the rescue. Hope you like my interpretation of the sketch.

I chose the sheet of DSP with the rabbits on for my background and used the largest of the octagonal dies to cut out the shape. To add some interest at the corners I layered it on to an embossed piece of Basic White - I used one of the Basics trio from the Online Exclusives. These layers were in turn matted on to Night of Navy, to make the colours pop, before adding to the Boho Blue card base.

I stamped one of the little frames from the Alphabest set onto Basic White using Night of Navy ink, and then infilled with letters stamped in Boho Blue before punching out the tiles using the Best Label punch. I adhered the little tiles up on to some Tear & Tape, using my Grid Paper as a guide, to line them up before adding them to the card front. The thank is flat to the card, but the you is lifted on Dimensionals to accommodate the loopy Baker's Twine bow. As a finishing touch, there is a trio of Iridescent Pearls.

The reverse side of the rabbit DSP is equally striking, so I made an alternative card too. It's exactly the same...but different! I used some frames that I had left over from a previous project and then added the letters and textured layer as before.
