Sending Smiles the InColor way for Kylie's International Project Highlights in May

Hello and welcome to my blog. This is my card to entry to Kylie Bertucci's International Project Highlights for May 2021 - the theme is Thank you.

At the start of a new Annual Catalogue, one of the things I look forward to doing the most is getting to know the new InColors (and obviously gorgeous new stamps and dies too!). I decided to begin my card with one of the Tea Boutique cards which showcase the fabulous new InColors. They come ready to use in packs - 20 pre-scored cards with coordinated envelopes. Adorable!

Together with the Tea Boutique cards, I am also using the Sending Smiles bundle. The variety of greeting that can be made is extensive, and includes a note of thanks. The bundle has two label dies to choose from, depending on which sentiment you use.

I chose to use a Tahitian Tide card base. Just look at those polka dots! On top of the card base I've added several layers of texture by using the Fabulous Frames dies, which add embossed detail as part of the die cutting process, as well as two embossing folders; the Timeworn Type 3-d folder and the Pretty Flowers folder.

The flowers are stamped in Starry Sky, with Crushed Curry centres, and then die cut to sit on Parakeet Party stems and leaves. I've attached them with glue dots so that they aren't completely flat to the card.

Sending is made of two parts - an outline and a detailed die cut which, when sandwiched together, are raised up on Dimensionals. Adhesive sheets were my best friend for adhering the detailed layer to the outline. You have to take care not to stretch the word when removing the backing, but even if that does happen the outline is there to help you reshape it! You also have to take care not to loose the dot for the letter i!

Just when I thought I'd finished I realised that the inside needed some attention too. So, I added a simple, stamped insert to the middle of the card. I hope you like the bright cheery colours as much as I do!

Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop - April 2022

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I am delighted to be taking part in the Ink and Inspiration blog hop for April 2022. This month we are taking a challenge to be inspired by either a colour combination or an image or both!

This is the inspiration behind this month's challenge, and I've jumped into the colour challenge, where we can use some or all of the suggested colours plus the neutral colours; Basic Black, Very Vanilla and Basic White.

I have been in my element creating this card. I selected some products that I have used for a while together with a new set of dies from the Annual Catalogue that will be live from 3rd May. While I crafted I also listened to a talking book so I feel that I have had some very valuable me time!

The Fabulous Frames dies are sure to become one of my favourites - I love adding layers to my cards and the added bonus of mounting these dies together is that it results in a delightful little framed picture.

There's plenty of texture on this card - the frames already have an inlaid embossed pattern, the Rich Razzleberry layer is embossed with the Stitched Greenery die and the flowers are curled and teased to give a more realistic appearance.

The largest flowers were stamped on Shimmery White card, stamped with Rich Razzleberry ink and coloured using a matching watercolour pencil. I went softly with the pencil and built up the colur gradually, using the definition in the stamped lines for guidence. To smooth the colour slightly I just tickled the paper with the Wink of Stella Brush. Not only do you have a little added shimmer, but the watercolour ink blends too.

The Shimmery White background is overstamped with typewriter style writing stamped in Rich Razzleberry ink and some lighter, Blushing Bride, splatters. The Thinking of You sentiment is stamped in Bermuda Bay and fits snugly into the label from the Fabulous Frames set. To finish of my card I've added three types of embellishment - black Classic Matte dots, which hide the holes in the sentiment label, Iridescent Rhinestone jewels, which seem take on the colour of whatever they are on top of and a trio of Brass Butterflies. I think that they work on the card but I can't believe I have used three types of embellishment...is that allowed?

New Horizons fun fold card - Top Ten International Highlights Winners Hop April 2022

Hello and welcome to my blog. Earlier in the month, I participated in Kylie Bertucci's International Project Highlights and after the voting had closed I was delighted to find myself in the Top Ten!

Thank you so much to everyone who visited the gallery and voted for my card. If you missed it, you can read all about it here. I am absolutely thrilled to be eligible to take part in this winner's hop.

For my card for today I have chosen to feature a different fun fold technique using the same New Horizons DSP. The scenery on the New Horizons papers really lends itself to this layout. 

I first came noticed this type of card when I participated in a blog hop that was all about fun folds, and now I have realised that one of the other winners shared this type of fold in the gallery this month too. I really love making fun fold cards and, although I haven't used this fun fold before, I am sure that I will make more of them!

From the outside there is nothing unusual to show - the Timeworn Type embossed layer is topped with a picture panel, raised on dimensionals, wrapped in ribbon with a simple, fresh looking thanks sentiment. This watercolour scene reminds me of a holiday to the Lake District and a visit to see Beatrix Potter's home. Happy memories!

The magic happens when you open the card, and there is a definite wow! factor. I have the same Soft Succulent embossed layers but this time some of the panels are floating. Using a single sheet of the 6" x 6" DSP, I trimmed small strips from the top and bottom and then cut the remaining piece into four equal strips. Each strip is mounted onto a slightly bigger strip of Evening Evergreen card, which are then mounted onto a band of Evening Evergreen. The band is folded in a concertina fashion so that it is enveloped when the card closes.

The scene inside feels like a sweeping panorama! I was tempted to leave it completely unadorned, so as not to spoil the view. But, that felt really lazy, (and a bit too plain) so I added another thanks and a dainty bow, made from Evening Evergreen twine from the Fan Baker's Twine set, to the third panel. There weren't any flowers on this section, so I have only hidden the green meadow. To the back of the card I added a Basic White layer to provide a space for a personal message.
