Nature's Thoughts Coordination

Hello and welcome to my blog. For today's card, I grabbed my Positive Thoughts stamps and the coordinating Nature's Thoughts dies and began creating. The card I thought I was going to make was a clean and simple card with lots of white space. Not quite how it turned out, but I am delighted with the finished card. There are lots of layers and plenty of texture.

By happy coincidence, my first card fitted with one of this week's lines on the Tic Tac Toe Challenge TTTC051. I have used a bow, flowers and frames.

The colours I have used are Soft Sea Foam, Pear Pizzazz and Basic Grey. There is also a little bit of Whisper White, some embossed Vellum and some Wink of Stella on the petals. I knew that I wanted to use the frame from the Nature's Thoughts dies because I love the fancy stitched detail around the edge. I added a layer of Soft Sea Foam card and some Vellum, embossed with the Parisian Flourish folder, to the frame before adding a selection of leaves and flowers. I love the 3-d finish of the small flowers - you just have to push up the spikes from behind. To complete the card I added a couple of small die cut butterflies and some silver metallic pearls.

The Pear Pizzazz layer is over stamped using the leaf stamp to create a tone on tone background. The subtle colour is achieved by stamping off onto scrap paper first. In turn, this sits on a skinny Basic Grey layer on the Soft Sea Foam card layer.

Crafting was a fabulous distraction from the wind and rain that was raging outside and once I had started I couldn't stop. So, I made another card. The elements are very similar, and you can tell that I made them one after the other but my second card introduces some Flirty Flamingo for a pop of colour and I have used the Stitched So Sweetly dies as an alternative frame. The scalloped edges nest beautifully. Again, I've used the Parisian Flourish folder and there is tone on tone background stamping on the Pear Pizzazz card base.

I really couldn't stop, so I made another! This time I have used splatters from my Wink of Stella glitter pen to enhance the background.

Here are my three cards together! I hope you like them. Thankfully, the weather seems to have calmed down a bit now!

It was Meant to Be

Hello and welcome to my blog. As you know, I love heart shaped things so today I am sharing a card for Valentine's Day. Any day is a good day to celebrate love, whether it be for your sweetheart, your family or your friends, and as today has always been linked and entwined with love and hearts my card had to feature hearts today!

http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com/2020/02/pp477-color-challenge-from-ann.html

My card also fits perfectly with the theme over on The Paper Players this week. They have a colour challenge to use red, pink, white and black...to me that screams Valentine's Day! So, for the challenge I have used Real Red and Flirty Flamingo along with white and black.

I have made several shaker cards recently, so I decided to have a go at a heart themed one. I chose to use the Meant to Be stamps and the coordinating Stitched Be Mine dies from the Annual Catalogue to create my card.

There are several elements in the dies that nest together to create a lovely layered look. I cut out a pile of shapes in the various different colours and played around with them until I was happy with the layered look.

The sentiment on the front is heat embossed in white whilst inside Happy Valentine's Day is stamped in Real Red. The top layer is embossed using the Subtle folder to add a little extra texture. The shaker card is assembled using Window Sheet and Adhesive strips to encase a selection of little die cut hearts.

Until today, I hadn't used the From My Heart Faceted Gems. I have been missing out big time! These embellishments are beautiful - the top surface is raised, faceted and wonderfully sparkly! They have a flat back making it easy to stick down with Tombow glue and the sticky end of the Take Your Pick Tool makes it a breeze to pick them up and place them too.

Thank you for visiting today. Hope you have a day filled with whatever makes you happy.
