All Adorned fun fold card

Hello and welcome to my blog. I am participating in a blog hop today along with lots of other wonderful demonstrators who are part of Kylie's Demonstrator Training. So whether you are a regular visitor, or you are following around the hop - Welcome!

The project I am sharing is a fun fold birthday card. I am rather addicted to fun fold cards at the moment.  I have lots of birthdays to celebrate in March and I have been enjoying making different 3-d cards.

I have used the All Adorned stamp set which can be earned for FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-A-Bration. It is perfect for building patterns and this 3-d card has plenty of scope for showing them off!

Not only that, but this fun fold card goes flat for posting and also has a pocket to slot in a gift card or a secret message.

I built the patterns with the aid of my Stamparatus - stamp, rotate and repeat! The colours I've used are Night of Navy and Granny Apple Green which pop really well against the white background. Such bright, fun colours that zing!  To finish off the card I have combined some of my favourite products - the Stitched Shapes framelits and the 2" circle punch - with some Sale-A-Bration products - Hello Cupcake (FREE with a qualifying purchase) and the new Story label punch (purchase during March as a Sale-A-Bration coordingating item).

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today. I really hope that you enjoy hopping round the other blogs and that you find lots of ideas that inspire you to create something special.  You are currently at my blog - Karen Henderson.  So check the list below to see who is next on the list.  Make sure you don't miss any!

Painted Seasons coordination!

Welcome to my blog today. I am so pleased to be taking part in Kylie's International Highlights again this month. The theme for March is Encouragement - the idea is to send someone a kind word when they most need it.  Maybe to say Get Well Soon, You are Fabulous or a well deserved Thank You.  Any of these are great reasons to make and send a card!  Afterall, that is what we love doing, right?

The best bit about this Highlight is that you can vote for your favourite five projects in the gallery.  At the end of the voting, the top ten winners will get the chance to be part of an international blog hop later this month.  I would love to take part in the hop so I would really appreciate it if you would visit the gallery and VOTE for my card.

I am loving the Painted Season stamps and I wanted to start using the papers too. They are so pretty, and as the name suggests there are patterns for all seasons! You could even get ahead with your Christmas cards!

I've mixed glorious florals with a less vibrant pattern to make a bridge fold card. This style of fancy fold card is new to me and is actually easy to construct. I found examples by Jackie Bultje and Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek by scrolling through Pinterest and used them for the basic dimensions. I love the finished result. The best bit is that it folds flat for posting and fits in a standard sized envelope. I'm sure to make some more of them.

How did I make it? I used my paper trimmer for all the cutting and scoring and the new Sale-A-Bration coordination dies to cut out the flowers and leaves for the decoration. The sentiment is from the Incredible Like You stamp set. I have used these particular words quite a bit. They are wonderful and I think they work well for birthdays and for those "Just Because" situations that really make the difference to someone's day.

Card Base measures 20cm x 10.5cm, scored at 3cm, 6cm, 14cm and 17cm

Patterned layers each measure 2.7cm x 10.2cm, central layers measure 7.7cm x 10.2cm and 7.4cm x 9.9cm

"Bridge" measures 14cm x 3cm and the embossed layer is 13.7cm x 2.7cm. To adhere the bridge section to the card: concertina in one side and stick the bridge to the top layer only. Repeat on the other side.

I have used is the fabulous Country Floral dynamic textured impressions embossing folder to make a feature of the "bridge" element of the card.  The texture from the folder is just stunning, and could be the main feature of a card all by itself - it's a level 1 Sale-A-Bration item, so you can earn it for FREE with purchases of £45 (before shipping and handling).

Thanks for visiting my blog today. Please visit Kylie’s blog to vote for my project, I would love to be chosen to take part in the international blog hop.

Painted Seasons; the muted mix

Welcome back to my blog today for more inspiration using the Painted Seasons stamp set and the wonderful Well Written bundle. The images are so realistic and just pop out of the page screaming to be displayed in a floral arrangement.

Even though the layout of the stamped images is roughly the same the feel of these cards is quite different to the zingy, vibrant "Spring" cards I shared earlier in the week. These colours are muted and have a much more earthy feel. The stars of the show are Blackberry Bliss, Mint Macaron, Granny Apple Green and Gray Granite.

When cutting layers for card fronts there are often skinny strips left over. It is tempting to throw them away, but actually they can come in very useful! To balance the front of the card I have matched the colour of the strip to the background layer and the sentiment from the Well Written bundle sits neatly on the top creating a focal point. here is just enough room for a neatly tied Linen Thread bow.

The alternative layout has lots of white space that is filled with an incredible sentiment. Wouldn't it make your day to recieve a card with that statement on? The flowers were masked with a Post It Note before the leaves were stamped so that they appear to be behind the flowers. There is plenty of depth to this card with the realistic stamped images and the illusion of the leaves behind the flowers but in actual fact the card is very flat and perfect for posting via the mail.

I hope you have enjoyed the alternative colourway for these Painted Seasons cards. Simply changing the colour combination of a card dramatically changes the feel of it and, hence, how it can be used.
