Stitched with Kindness

Every other week our team has an Inspire, Create, Share Challenge to give us a kick start to making a card or project.  One such challenge was to use a particular colour palette and to see what we could make.  My contribution was to make two cards, purely because I was being indecisive.  I wonder which you will prefer.

I am so pleased to have Mint Macaron and Mossy Meadow in our colour assortment again, so I chose to use those for my card bases, which are cut to the Stampin' Up! Notecard size of 5" x 3 1/2".  Shimmery White card to adds a little lustre and luxury to the layer, and further texture is added by using one of the Stitched Label dies.  These dies have an apt name as they add a dimension that reminds me of smocking on clothing.

Now we come to my indecision - should I focus on Mossy Meadow or Mint Macaron?  I couldn't decide, so I made two cards and with each one I matched the ink and the layering oval to the base card.  The layers, ink and flowers all complement each other well...but I still can't decide on a favourite!  Which do you prefer?

I love this sentiment.  I have used it plenty of times before, and I'm sure it will continue to be one of my go to stamps.  The flower accents are cut using the Springtime Impressions set  and are perfect to finish off the card (and complete the colour challenge!).  My top tip for attaching them to your card is to use glue dots - the glue dots sit behind the hole that is the centre of the flower, yet are large enough to securely attach them, leaving the petals unattached adding some further dimension.  A simple gem hides the glue dot and adds sparkle too!

What would you create with these colours?

As always, happy crafting,

Let's Celebrate with Delightfully Detailed papers

Happy Monday!  I hope you have had a great weekend.  The card I am sharing today focuses on the Delightfully Detailed laser-cut specialty papers.

There are a variety of patterns to choose from in the pack, all delicate and all beautiful.  A card made by another demonstrator, Su Mohr, inspired me to chose this one with the circular pattern.  The papers are Whisper White on one side and Very Vanilla on the other, which is the one I used.

The colour palette for the rest of the card is Highland Heather, Blackberry Bliss and Pool Party.  I've used a variety of punches to cut out circular backdrops for the delicate patterns, including a vellum one underneath the largest circle in the centre.

The only stamping is the the little Pool Party motif in the centre and the Blackberry Bliss sentiment (which I stamped and then trimmed to remove the dots, which on this occasion I didn't want).

My top tip for putting this together would be to use a non-stick surface (I used a silicone mat) and an old sponge to apply Tombow glue to the delicate paper to adhere it to the card.  Although, I have to admit that, it was a little fiddly to put together; it was worth it and I am really pleased with the overall finish.

Before I go, I want to remind you that July is a bumper month for offers.

New Stampin' Blends colours are available!

The popularity of our alcohol markers meant that demand exceeded supply and, for some time, they have been unorderable.  I'm really happy to tell you that ALL the Blends are now available, including the 11 NEW COLOURS.

http://www2.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=5013121

Who loves to colour?  I do!  And you?  I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my Blends in the new colours.  Hopefully, they should arrive next week.  Yay!  In the meantime, I can show you a card that I made with some of the existing colours, using a design from the catalogue, and the fabulous Hostess set called Hand Delivered.

I have stamped the focal image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Shimmery white card and then coloured using Blends in a variety of shades to create an array of pretty balloons.  I used the Color Lifter to remove some of the colour on a couple of balloons to give a little dimension.  I have also die cut a couple of extra balloons and mounted them over the top to add depth.

The backgrounds are stamped using images from the same set.  I have used matching ink and card to give the lovely tone on tone colour.  There is a vellum layer,  some Baker's Twine and a delicate Happy Birthday message to finish off the card!

Will you do some therapeutic colouring today?  Happy crafting,
