By their very nature sympathy cards are difficult to send and it is hard to find the right words to convey the appropriate feelings of sadness and loss. Giving a hug speaks volumes so I have chosen a very simple card to give a hug when it is needed.
This is the first time I have made an eclipse card, and it was much easier than I anticipated. First, I stamped the beautiful image from the Lovely as a Tree stamp set. After die cutting the letters out, the piece is matted onto a slightly larger coloured layer. The letters are replaced, and popped up using mini dimensionals, allowing colour to just peep out from behind them to give a subtle outline.
Typically for me I was being indecisive and I couldn't decide whether to go for a completely white background or a faux watercoloured effect. To create the coloured background I applied inks directly to a large acrylic block and then spritzed it with water before pressing it onto the whisper white card. By spritzing the block with water it allows the inks to swim a little on the block and gives a slightly mottled effect when they are stamped onto the card.

When I look through a Stampin' Up! catalogue I feel like a little child in a sweet shop and I want one of each sweet! It's no surprise then, that my latest box brought a smile to my face as it contained lots of goodies!
Two of the items in the box were the Foil Snowflakes and the Watercolor Christmas stamps. The packet of Foil Snowflakes contains both gold and silver coloured oh so pretty snowflakes. The Watercolor Christmas stamps are advertised to accompany a fabulous Project Kit, but they are wonderful stand alone set of stamps too. I will look forward to making the cards in the kit another time.
I have made two Christmas cards using traditional colours to show off these products. I made two cards because I was being indecisive! The colours I have used are Real Red and Garden Green with the sentiment heat embossed in gold to compliment the foil snowflake.

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have another Christmas card make for you that uses some more of the fabulous new products from the Autumn Winter catalogue from Stampin' Up!
It is a simple card, yet I think it is still effective. A giant snowflake has been embossed onto the Whisper White layer using the Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, and the sentiment, from the Labels to Love set, has been added using Night of Navy ink. This is layered onto a piece of Night of Navy card and then onto a Soft Sky base. I did say it was simple!
And then I had some fun by adding sparkle! I often turn to the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to add that little something extra to a project. It really is one of those products that is so versatile and useful that it comes to the rescue as the perfect finishing touch on many occasions. And this time it didn't disappoint - all I did was to brush over all the raised areas and just look at that snowflake glisten.

Hello and welcome to my blog today. I am delighted to be taking part in an International Highlights Blog Hop hosted by Kylie Bertucci. I'm thrilled to be one of the top 10 winners in August's highlights and the theme is Teacher Gifts.
Thank you so much to everyone who voted for my project to gain me this place on the hop. I'm a wee bit nervous because this is the very first time I have participated in a blog hop! You maybe starting here or have come from the person before me in the hop - it doesn't matter. You can hop all the way round to see the wonderful creations by all the other winners. Here is my project for today ~ a frame masquerading as a book that can be used as a photo frame or for displaying motivational quotes.
To continue the theme from my earlier project, which you can see HERE, I have again used the Pick a Pattern papers together with some coordinating card stock to make the frame. As with many projects it evolved as I was making it, and although it is a long was off what I embarked on making, I am thrilled with the end result.
I started with pieces of extra thick card - the type that you stockpile because they will come in useful one day - that are used to protect Glimmer Paper or Specialty Designer Series Paper. The frame is cut to accommodate a 4"x6" photo/Memories and More card and whilst I would normally work in centimetres, I have switched to measuring in inches for this project to maintain consistency with the photo sizes.
I cut the pieces for the frame at 6"x 8", to allow a 1" border all around the aperture. The frame is covered with Crushed Curry card and decorated with washi tape from the Pick a Pattern set. The covers are cut fractionally larger at 6 3/8"x 8 3/8" and they are covered with patterned paper. I think that the camera pattern is so apt for the outside cover. The inside cover has a contrasting layer of patterned paper that can be seen through the aperture when the frame is empty.
A layer of Window Sheet is added to the reverse of the aperture to protect its contents (and to stop the photo falling out!). 1" strips of Basic Black card (three layers on top of each other) have been added to create a channel for the photo/Memories and More card to slide into from the top of the frame. I added a tab, using the Circle Tab punch, to the top of the card to make it easier to slide it in.
To assemble the finished frame the front covers and the inside frames were sandwiched together and joined along one of the long sides using a piece of patterned paper to create the spine of the book.
