Happy Birthday Gorgeous - with a twist of citrus zing!

I made this card especially for wonderful colour challenge hosted by The Paper Players this week.

The colours to use are Daffodil Delight, Pool Party and Lemon Lime Twist.  They are fresh and zingy and ooze the essence of lazy summer days!  Whilst the colours aren't ones that I would have immediately combined myself, as my card came together, the colour combo definitely grew on me.

I've used the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set to create the lower background section of the card.  Three rows of words, associated with birthdays, are stamped in Pool Party ink on Pool Party card.  Don't you just love that pretty swirly font?  The photopolymer stamps make it straight forward to place the words in the right place!

Next, I have punched out lots of large balloons from Pool Party card to create the faux embossed section at the top.  The two sections are separated with a piece of beautiful Lemon Lime Twist ribbon.

Finally, three balloons are added to ensure that the celebratory mood is confirmed!  The larger of the three balloons comes from another, equally gorgeous, birthday set called Balloon Celebration.  To set them apart from the background they are popped up using dimensionals and they float on Baker's Twine strings.

Hello There Baby!

Today I have a couple of super cute cards to share with you that I made especially for Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlight for June.  The theme for this month is BABY.

The best bit about this Highlight is that you can vote for your favourite projects.  I would love it if you would vote for my project HERE.  The top ten winners will get to be part of an international blog hop so please VOTE for my project.

I have a lot of stamping supplies, but not very many baby orientated stamps.  After thinking for a while, I decided that the way to go was a congratulations meets welcome to the world card.

My eldest children are twins, one girl and one boy, so I just had to create two baby cards for completeness and to cover all eventualities.  The colour combinations are Melon Mambo teamed up with Power Pink and Dapper Denim paired with Pool Party.

To create the background I have repeatedly stamped the Congratulations stamp from the Soft Sayings Kit (it has so many really useful word stamps) on to some whisper white card.  I stamped the solo darker image first and then added rows of the lighter colour.  The stamps are photopolymer, which means that you can see through them to get accurate placement each time you stamp.

The fabulous Hello There comes from the  Pieces and Patterns stamp set, which I have used so much.  The sentiment and layer are both punched out using nesting circle punches, and then they are popped up using one of my favourite new products in the new catalogue - Mini Stampin' Dimensionals - they are the bees knees!  The little "baby" word is a stamped on to a cute tab and comes from another brilliant set of sentiment stamps called Teeny Tiny Sentiments.  To finish off there is a twist of bakers twine tied with a bow.

Thank you for visiting my blog today.  I'd be delighted if you visited Kylie's blog to vote for my project.  I would love to be chosen to do an international blog hop.

Guy Greetings Revisited

Last month I showed you a Fathers Day card made with the Guy Greetings Set which you can see HERE.  As I was writing up that blog post my little grey cells started to whir and I began to dream up this card...same stamps, different colour and different sentiment!

I've finally made the card (crafting has been taking a bit of a back seat while my eldest two children sit their GCSEs - half way through now and there is light at the end of the exam tunnel!) and I'm just in time to enter The Paper Players Challenge #347 where the theme is Birthdays.

With the help of my Stamp-a-ma-jig I have created the array of shoes and hats using Night of Navy ink.  Then I have wrapped a vellum band around the centre portion of the array which creates a square frame for the large die cut Happy Birthday to sit on.  You can still see the shoes and hats underneath, but the die cut becomes the focus and sends a clear Happy Birthday greeting!

I couldn't resist making a blue version of the Fathers Day card.  I'm not sure which is my favourite - blue or the original black one.

For completeness, I also made a blue birthday card using the Happy Birthday from the stamp set.

Thanks for visiting today.  Happy crafting
