Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I am taking part in a blog hop with some fellow enthusiasts who love sharing their creative talents using their Stampin' Up!® products. This theme for this month's Stamping Inkspirations blog hop is Splish Splash.
I am very lucky that I live in an area full of greenery and it's so easy to pop out for a walk in the countryside. I am quite a long way from the seaside though, so I don't get to experience the sights and sounds of the beach very often. However, I do love it when we have holidays by the sea - there is nothing quite like that salty smell, fresh sea air and the sound of the waves. So, my Splish, Splash project for today is inspired by visits to the seaside, walks along the shoreline and foraging in rock pools.
Friends are like seashells is the bundle I have chosen to work with, although I have used some other dies and embossing folders too. Tucked inside my stamp set were some elements that were left over from another project. I quite often find this because during the design process I create a pile of die cuts and layers in different colours so that I can decide by trial and error which combinations I like best. I am very bad at using up the left over bits, so I am really pleased that I have incorporated some into this card!
I have used the Stitched Rectangle dies to crop out the In Good Taste DSP for the background layer and for the Vellum strip down the side. This is formed using a skinny die and and the Painted Texture folder. When embossed, vellum is transformed as it takes on a white tinge where the bumps and troughs are formed. I cut two rectangles and overlaped them to nest inside the background one - the overlap is hidden underneath the shells. (Of course, you could use one rectangle and cut it, leaving a gap behind the shells, but I've only just thought of that!) Vellum is notoriously difficult to adhere to projects without showing the glue, so I have just used strategically placed glue dots beneath the seaweed and shells.
The large Soft Sea Foam conch shell has so much texture - it is stamped, die cut and fussy cut to remove the surplus shell/seaweed detail. It is then embossed using the Seashells folder. I also added some Wink of Stella glitter to the raised, uninked parts of the conch shell and some splatters to the background.
The very apt sentiment fits perfectly within the die cut Tailor Made Tag - it's stamped in Soft Suede and tied with a Linen Thread bow. A scattering of Basic Pearl Jewels rounds things off.
I hope that you are inspired by my card today and that you will continue along the hop to see what the others have created too - Annette is next. Enjoy the projects. We would love to hear from you and so if you have been inspired, please leave a comment.
