Grace's Garden

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today's card features the wonderful Grace's Garden Bundle - it's the first time I've inked it up and I had so much fun colouring the flowers and creating this cottage garden border.

The layout was inspired by the Sketch challenge over at The Paper Players this week. I knew immediately that I wanted to incorporate the Stitched So Sweetly dies!

http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com/2020/04/pp488-sketch-challenge-from-laurie.html

I cut a piece of Whisper White card so that it sits snugly within the stitched border of the largest rectangle die from the Stitched So Sweetly dies. It's a great size to frame a little picture! Next, I used the sponge brayers to create a background using Granny Apple Green and Balmy Blue. A light coverage is all that is needed to give the impression of grass and sky which will eventually ground the flowers.

The flowers were stamped on to Watercolour paper using StazOn ink, die cut and then coloured using ink from my ink pads. I transferred a little ink on to an acrylic block and then  watercoloured the images. Instead of using an Aquapainter or a Blender Pen to do the colouring I used my Wink of Stella Glitter Brush - instant sparkle! Just remember to clean the tip between colours. The gaps between the flower stems and the grass have a very light wash of Soft Sea Foam to take away the stark white space.

The bases of the tall flowers are adhered using a few glue dots allowing the die cut leaves to be slipped in behind. This foliage provides some height and adds to the cottage garden effect. The white ribbon is wrapped around them before the clump of flowers is added to the foreground. I opted for a very simple sentiment. Sometimes, all you need to say is Hello. The framed panel is mounted on a Whisper White layer, embossed with the Scripty embossing folder, before adding it to the card base.

Thank you for visiting my blog today, I hope you have enjoyed the trip into my little cottage garden. Now, my mission is to have a go at colouring this scene using my Stampin' Blends, I think it will be a bit more vibrant!
