Hello and welcome to my blog. Today the sky is bright blue and the sun is shining which is a sure sign that Spring is here! It has been wonderful to see the blossom on the trees whilst I have been out for walks and I can't wait to see carpets of bluebells. Some of my favourite flowers are forget-me-nots - I love the colours and seeing the bright blue shades as they start to flower and then watching them fade as they grow taller. I love their name too - so sentimental!
Forget-me-nots are the inspiration for my cards today! There are heaps of flower dies in the Pierced Bloom set and they have amazing stitched details on them - it's a fantastic set of dies, so much so that I have made my cards almost entirely with just the dies. I only used the stamp set from the bundle for a little tone on tone stamping for the background on one of my cards.
The largest of the Stitched So Sweetly dies acts as a frame for the flowers. The Soft Sea Foam layer sits just inside the stitched detail in the Gray Granite die cut and the flowers dance across the middle amongst Soft Sea Foam die cut leaves and some linen thread. On the first card I made this layer is plain - no stamping or embossing, but for the second one I added texture using the Tasteful Textile embossing folder.
I have used the retiring Seaside Spray card to represent the dainty blue flowers, using two of the small four petal flowers layered up and offset before adding the So Saffron centres. To complete the card I added some of the darling tiny little flowers and a scattering of Metallic Pearls.
I liked the blue card so much that I couldn't resist making an alernative version using another of the retiring In Colors, Rococo Rose - it's a bit like the pinky tinges you sometimes see in forget-me-nots! This time the background has small, tone on tone, flowers randomly stamped on it.
I am submitting these cards to two challenges - the first one is The Paper Players #pp535 where they have a Springtime Flowers challenge.
The other is the Tic Tac Toe challenge #tttc108 where I have gone down the middle - florals, free and any die cut.
I've had fun making these cards and I really hope you are inspired to make something yourself.
