Pretty Perennials - Happy Birthday swaps

Hello and welcome to my blog. I made this card a while ago and I have been itching to share it with  you all. I've kept it a secret because I made it as my contribution to a card swap by post and I wanted to wait until all the swaps were distributed before sharing it here.

This card makes me so happy - the stamped flowers are bold and beautiful, I love this combination of colours together, I incorporated the Subtle embossing folder (the linen look texture it gives is fabulous), the sentiment is stunning (and can be changed really easily to suit the occasion) and the design worked super well as a production line (which is obviously essential for a swap card!). This card really ticked lots of boxes for me!

The production process for this card, after cutting up the card layers, was to complete the stamping first. The two large flowers are in Daffodil Delight and the centres are in MementoBlack. Next, I stamped the four petalled flower twice in Highland Heather, rotating it to create a rounder bloom. The smaller purple flowers are designed as a two step creation. I stamped the outline in Gorgeous Grape first and then filled in the petals with Highland Heather. The leaves are created in the same way using Pear Pizzazz. The berries are stamped in Coastal Cabana and, whilst I'm not sure that they are botanically accurate, they are so pretty.

After stamping the whole piece is embossed with the Subtle embossing folder to give it a canvas texture. The word happy is white heat embossed on to a strip of Vellum, which is wrapped around the card layer to avoid the problem of hiding the adhesive. Another large flower was stamped and die cut and topped with one of the skeleton die cut flowers. Ah, so pretty! Oh and I nearly forgot, the ribbon ties exquisite bows! The final bit of the production line was to add some of the Elegant Faceted Gems.

As I am typing, the post man has just deliverd my return swaps. How perfect is that timing? Can't wait to have a look through them - I know I will be inspired to create something new. Thank you for visiting today - I hope that I have inspired you.

    1. Purples are my favourite colours, and they work well together for the flowers! I used heat embossing as an alternative to fussy cutting the happy.

    1. Hello Sherry,

Both my blogsite, and the Mailchimp site I use to maintain my subscription list, are secure. I am not sure why you received a warning, but I suspect it was either a setting in your browser or your firewall (erring on the side of caution). Regardless, please send me an email directly (to furrycatdesigns@gmail.com) and I will add your email address directly to my subscription list - so that you receive a message each time I publish a new blog. Hope that helps, and thank you for visiting my site.

      Kind regards,

      Karen

  3. Such a beautiful layout on your birthday card. Love the colour choices. I'm a big fan of yellow and purple together and this looks so great. The Subtles EF adds a wonderful texture to the card face, and the Vellum strip works perfectly to soften the images even more and add the sentiment. Thanks for inspiring and sharing.
