World of Good swaps

Hello and welcome to my blog. At the start of each new catalogue one of the things that I look forward to the most is a catalogue swap. I host a swap in our team and participants agree to make six identical cards and send them to me to collate, exchange and return. I love opening the envelopes to see what others have made and I'm always inspired. Sending back the envelopes filled with fresh ideas is a pleasure too. In all likelihood wish lists grow, but that is always a happy downside of swapping!

For my swap card I used the World of Good suite again. I love everything about this suite - the specialty papers, the stamps and dies. The brass foil adds touches of luxury to projects whilst the Memories & More cards can be used for scrapbooking or making cards. And there's more! An embossing folder, faux suede trim, corners and sliders complete the offering in this suite.

The Old World paper die gives a crumpled paper look which is perfect for aging maps and generally adding texture to a project. To me, it also gives the illusion of rippling water which is apt when you are thinking about oceans or adventures at sea. So, this was my starting point - an Old World Paper embossed Misty Moonlight layer on a Mossy Meadow card base. The patterned paper is fabulous.  The white compasses and grid lines are so crisp and fresh on the mottled Misty Moonlight background. To echo the base layers, the paper is also mounted on to a Mossy Meadow layer and raised on Dimensionals over the background.

It's clever how the stamps and dies can be paired so that you see different sides of the globe. The sentiment is stamped in Versamark on a strip of Misty Moonlight, heat embossed in white and punched using the Lovely Label's Pick a Punch. I made this card before I had the new InColor ink pads so I used the Versamark pad to provide some tone on tone stamping before I added the sentiment banner to the card. I couldn't resist adding a couple of twirly bits behind the banner - I forsee that I will be adding them to a lot of projects!

Thank you for popping in today. I had such a lot of fun making my swaps and I am delighted with my pile of cards that I have in return. So many ideas to mull over! If you want to purchase the items used for this card, or any other supplies, please take a look in my online Stampin' Up! shop.  You can follow the link or click on the pictures below of the products I have used today.
