Little Elephant Congratulations!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I love creating with inks and paper. Making Congratulations! cards have to be some of the best types of cards to make. I have combined two fabulous sets to make a card to celebrate new life. Even better, I need to send one of them out straight away.

These cards also fit the bill for The Paper Players Clean & Simple challenge this week set by Joanne.

How did I make this card? Firstly, I used the large square puzzle piece die from the Puzzle Pieces die set to emboss some Thick Whisper White card to give just an impression of the puzzle pieces, using the now retired embossing mats. The die could be used traditionally but you would need to stick the pieces back together again.

Then, I took the Congratulations! from the Little Elephant stamp set and repeated it across the puzzle square starting at the top in the middle and then moving down and side to side to fill up the space. Each line has a bold image and the rest are lighter second generation ink. Using scissors I cut along the outside edges of the square and layered it onto a slightly bigger square of matching card before adding it to a square card base. It's a neat 9.9cm x 9.9cm card. You can cut three from one sheet of card, and they are so cute.

The card is finished with two decorated jigsaw hearts layered up on top of each other. The elephant is stamped on Whisper White, punched out with the coordinating punch and is blowing love hearts into the air. The other one simply has 'hello little one' stamped on it. Really, these words say it all.

I have a top tip for sticking the hearts down to the card - before removing the pieces from the heart shaped puzzle piece use a small strip of washi tape to stick the four sections together. Then, when they come out of the die you can easily position them on your card with out them falling apart!

I am pleased with this design so I have made a few extra to have on hand - girl and boy versions! I have had so much fun with the Little Elephant and Puzzle Pieces sets. Thank you to the Paper Players for the Clean and Simple starting point and inspiration. Until next time!
