Happy Modern Heart

Today I have the pleasure of sharing a fun gatefold card featuring a brightly coloured heart - and you know how I love hearts. The sentiment - so happy for you - is perfect for lots of occasions, whether it's to congratulate, say well done or happy new home. In my book it ticks all the right boxes.

As the theme for Kylie's International Blog Highlights this month is Encouragement, I think it ticks that box too.

The best bit about this Highlight is that you can vote for your favourite five projects in the gallery. At the end of the voting the top ten winners will get the chance to be part of an international blog hop at the end of July. I would love to take part in the hop so I would really appreciate it if you would visit the gallery and vote for my card.

I think that the card is fun to look at and it was also fun to make - I used some gorgeous new products, did some heat embossing and then for some extra crafting therapy I also watercoloured the heart. Pretty, even though I do say so myself!

The gatefold base card is Bermuda Bay and topped with Melon Mambo and Gorgeous Grape layers. The Gorgeous Grape layer is embossed with the Scripty 3d embossing folder - the handwriting effect is just beautiful.

The inside of the card has a sprinkle of hearts stamped on another layer of watercolour card.

I stamped the Modern Heart on to watercolour card using Versamark ink and heat embossed it using silver powder - I love this raised shiny finish (and it also helps to contain the watercolouring so that the colours don't get all muddy!). To watercolour the stripes I transferred some ink from my ink pads onto an acrylic block and used an Aqua Painter to colour all the little segments in the heart. The sentiment is also stamped on to watercolour paper - once in Bermuda Bay and again in Gorgeous Grape. The happy is fussy cut out and positioned over the top of the whole Bermuda Bay sentiment, which is then popped up on Dimensionals over the painted heart.

To finish the card I wrapped a skinny band around the middle of the card consisting of layers of Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo. It's also wrapped with a bow tied in the fabulous Gorgeous Grape striped ribbon. The vibrant heart sits proudly on top of the band.

Thank you for visiting my blog today. I hope you approve of my card and that you'll visit the gallery and vote for me!
