Today know that a friend is thinking of you

Hello and welcome to my blog.  I am so pleased to be taking part in Kylie's International Highlights again this month. I missed taking part last month (as I'd written the dated down incorrectly in my diary for January) so I was determined to take part again this month.  There is a lesson to me there, and I've double checked the dates this time!  The theme for February is Encouragement - what a great reason to make and send a card!

The best bit about this Highlight is that you can vote for your favourite five projects in the gallery.  At the end of the voting, the top ten winners will get the chance to be part of an international blog hop later this month.  I would love to take part in the hop so I would really appreciate it if you would visit the gallery and VOTE for my card.

I have thoroughly indulged myself with my creation today as I have used the Meant To Be bundle which is full of hearts.  With Valentine's Day right in the middle of the month, February is strongly connected to hearts and love. However, I've siezed the opportunity to use a heart theme and show that hearts aren't just for Valentine's.

I pulled out this bundle together with a few inks, started putting ink onto paper and experimenting.  The colour combination I have used is Lovely Lipstick, Melom Mambo, Flirty Flamingo and Powder Pink. Together, I think they create a lovely, fun ombre effect on the Whisper White background.

My cards use a single heart stamp, in a repeating pattern, to make the background.  Each line is stamped using a different shade to create the graduated look. They are so pretty that I wanted to make a feature of them without adding too much detail over the top.

The first one has a Flirty Flamingo base, a layer of Lovely Lipstick and the hearts are stamped on Whisper White. The sentiment comes from one of the Sale-A-Bration stamp sets, Part of my Story, that you can earn for FREE (during Sale-A-Bration you can choose a FREE product with purchases of £45 (before shipping and handling)).  This set has some wonderful sentiments that are perfect for all sorts of situations and this one is no exception. I added just a smidge of glitter from the Wink of Stella glitter pen on the tiny stamped heart. The narrow, soft Flirty Flamingo ribbon from the All My Love combo pack ties beautiful bows and adds that final, finishing touch.

I enjoyed the layout and colours so much in my first card that I decided to try it in a smaller form! This time the ombre graduation goes the opposite way, starting with the light Powder Pink shade at the bottom and working up to Lovely Lipstick at the top, for no particular reason other that I started at the bottom of the card, at the centre point with the Powder Pink ink. This heart pointed the right way up, and I constructed the pattern around it so that cemented the direction of the card.

The card base this time is Powder Pink again with a layer of Lovely Lipstick and stamping on to Whisper White.  The images pop so well from the white background.

Again, the additional decoration is minimal to allow the background to shine through.  The small heart stamp used for the background a has a coordinating die.  The little embellishment is die cut after stamping on Lovely Lipstick card using matching ink, which is also used for the sentiment from the Meant to Be stamp set. The card layers are wrapped with a piece of the Flirty Flamingo ribbon and the little bow adds finishing touch.

I hope you approve of my cards and agree that the bundle is not just for Valentine's. Thank you for visiting me today.  If you have enjoyed my project I'd be really grateful if you visited the gallery and voted for my project!
