OnStage Local - Telford. Swaps!
I had an amazing weekend at the Stampin' Up! OnStage Local event in Telford. There are events held twice a year at various locations around the world and each time a different region hosts the main event. This time it was the turn of the South Pacific with OnStage Live in Auckland, New Zealand. Smaller local events, like the one I attended, take place so that more demonstrators can join in the fun. There were nearly 600 demonstrators in Telford sharing the new catalogue (customers can buy from this from 4th June), watching inspiring presentations and swapping!
Swapping is so much fun! To participate, demonstrators prepare cards or gifts to swap with others. It is by no means compulsory but it is a great way to collect different ideas. Time passes so quickly when you are chatting and swapping.
I made two batches of swaps based on cards that I had really enjoyed making over the past few weeks. The first was a bridge style card. The first time I made this type of card I used the Painted Seasons papers (you can see it here) and this time I used the Petal Promenade papers. The cards are constructed in the same way, but they are different because the papers and colours are different. Think of the number of combinations and permutations that the different papers would yield! Possibilities, possibilities!
For my second batch of swaps I used a layout that I had thoroughly enjoyed making. I just tweaked the colours slightly for these swaps. Simply ink, paper and stamps. I used my Stamparatus to help with the production line! The sentiment from the Incredible Like You set seemed really appropriate for these cards to swap with.
I have split the swaps I received in return into two piles. Cards first:

Stampin' Up! News
Earlier this week Stampin' Up! made an announcement to tell us that the Stampin' Trimmer and the Big Shot are retiring on 3rd June 2019, which is when the current Annual Catalogue ends. This decision has not been taken lightly and replacements are on their way. There is no date when the new tools will be launched yet, but as we will keep you up to date when we hear more.
My trimmer gets used a lot and I will miss it, but there have been supply issues with the Trimmer blades and therefore Stampin' Up! have taken the decision to retire the Trimmer and the associated accessories: cutting blades, scoring blades and cutting mats.
The quantity of blades that are usually ordered in a six month period have been ordered and will arrive into the warehouse intermittently. Throughout this time there will be times when the blades will not be orderable (and not offered as a backorder). The blades are currently out of stock and I encourage you to enter your email address when prompted to be kept informed of when they arrive back in stock.
When the Retiring List is released on 15th April the order limit for the blades will be increased from 3 to 6 packs , two blades in each pack. The stock is likely to deplete quickly in the light of this announcement.
Although the Big Shot will not be in the new Annual Catalogue all your current dies and embossing folders will work in whatever new system we have in the future.
These changes are big, but I'm excited and looking forward to the future and the new innovative products. When there is more information I will let you know.

A fun fold card with Vibrant Vases!
Welcome to my blog. I am excited to be taking part in a blog hop with other demonstrators who are part of Kylie's Training Group.
Even though my piece today looks nothing like it, my starting point was a stepper style birthday card made by Jessica Bridgen. I saw the "steps" on the birthday card and I knew that I wanted to make an Auricula Theatre using the Vibrant Vases stamps. I had a picture in my head of a structure filled with potted plants and, although I knew that the plants were called Auriculas, I had to find out what the structure was called using the power of the internet! It sounds very grand, but basically it is a shelving system for potted plants - a bookshelf of sorts lined with terracotta pots filled with brightly coloured plants.
I've always thought that Auricula Theatres look pretty cool, and I'm pleased that I now know their proper name! I am happy with my paper version, and I will admire it in my craft room to remind me of my Mum and Grandad. Neither of them owned one of these but they both had green fingers and gorgeous gardens. Alas, I do not have green fingers!
The steps are in the centre of my card and act as the shelves for the terracotta pots. I used the Hardwood stamp to create the sides and shelves of the wooden structure. To create the pots I have stamped one of the vases onto Crumb Cake card using Cajun Craze ink and then punched out the vase using the coordinating punch. The flowers are stamped in Memento black ink on to Whisper White card and coloured with Stampin' Blends. I did very little blending to maintain the definition between the shades, just like the real life flowers with their characteristic bright colours and yellow centres.
The black outline adds to their authenticity, although I think in real life some of them have white centres! I refer you to my earlier statement regarding the lack of green fingers! Finally, I fussy cut around the flowers and attached them over the vases using glue dots - and the vases are now terracotta pots. To add a little drama to the shelves I've added some bunting using the Pick A Pennant bundle of stamps and dies. The flags are fun to decorate and the letters were used to spell out SPRING!
