Hello
and welcome to my blog. Today, I am participating in the New at SU!
blog hop. We are a group of Stampin' Up!® demonstrators from around the
world who are full of creative papercrafting ideas to share with you to
get you crafting. This month we are casing a team member. The concept of casing has several definitions - Copy And Selectively Edit or Copy And Share Everything are popular interpretaions. I like to think of it as an inspiration starting point, but using an actual project rather than a sketch or colour combination.
I have the absolute pleasure of casing a project from Jan Musselman's collection. I chose to case her card from July's New at SU! hop which had a birthday theme.
This card is right up my street - flowers, lots of layers and embossing! While Jan used the gorgeous Charming Day bundle from the Floral Charm Suite I have chosen to use the Painterly Pears Suite instead. The focal point on my card, as the name of the suite suggests is the pears, but there are still a few flowers and I've used the same sentiment.
The design elements that I honed in on are:
- White card base with Mossy Meadow and DSP layers
- Corrugated embossing folder
- Modern oval dies from the Impressions Abloom set
- Happy Birthday sentiment
- Splatters and scattered embellishments
I love the oval shape from the Impressions Abloom set as it creates such a perfect layer for displaying the elements on a card. The Mini Corrugated embossing folder provides a lovely texture within the frame which is enhaced with some ink splatters from a Mossy Meadow marker - just a couple of flicks to add that something extra to the background. I have die cut the pears from the designer series paper to create my focal point but they do have a watercolour effect on them to emulate Jan's watercoloured flowers.
The Happy Birthday sentiment comes from the Charming Day set. I love the handwritten font, especially when it has been heat embossed. Here I have used white powder on a strip of Mossy Meadow card that is tucked under the pears.
To finish off my card I added a scattering of teeny tiny Petal Pink die cut flowers, some die cut leaves and a few Iridescent Pearls. Inside the card has a layer of Mossy Meadow topped with some pretty DSP. A section of the DSP with the white space and an all around border creates a perfect layer for a handwritten message.
I am really pleased with how my card turned out - it's a pretty close copy of Jan's, but at the same time it is different! I think that this card layout could be used with lots of different papers and bundles and it is one that I will CASE again for sure!
I
hope that you have been inspired by my project today. Continuing along
the hop to the others will provide you with even more project ideas -
