Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I am taking part in a blog hop with some fellow enthusiasts who love sharing their creative talents using their Stampin' Up!® products. This month the Stamping Inkspirations blog hop is all about Lifetime Celebrations.
In a little over a week it will be our pearl wedding anniversary, which sure is a Lifetime Celebration. So, in readiness for that day, I've made an anniversary card using the Always in my Heart stamps and the coordinating Floral Heart dies.
I love anything to do with hearts; the mug I'm drinking my coffee from has whimsical hearts printed on it, my necklace and bracelets have heart-shaped charms on...you get the idea! This set was a must for me. My favourite part is the long edging die - those tiny hearts and the stitching make an adorable border.
The In Color Shimmer vellum has a wonderful lustre all by itself, but once embossed it's taken to another level. Using one of the Dotty Hearts folders was an easy choice to make.
This embossed Fresh Freesia vellum sits on top of a slightly wider panel of Fresh Freesia card with the brushed metallic die cut heart borders sitting underneath, nestled next to the card edges. The Shimmery White card base peeps through tiny heart border adding lustre and a little bit of luxury.
I cut the floral heart shapes out in several card types - Metallic Gold, Fresh Freesia and Shimmery White - not knowing which would work best. I discarded the gold one as it was a bit too much and decided on a mix and match approach with a Fresh Freesia floral layer and a solid heart in Shimmery White. I softened the edges of the heart and highlighted the leaves and buds of the die cut shape by adding a little Fresh Freesia ink applied using a blending brush - the velvety soft bristles allow you to build up the colour subtly.
The banner is another favourite element in this set - the die cuts and scores the folds for you to create the elegant stitched edged banner. The sentiment is white heat embossed, which I admit wasn't easy because ink has a tendacy to slip on the slick surface. I think that the result was well worth the extra effort and patience required!
For embellishments Basic Pearls were an absolute necessity! To these I also added a couple of the Elegant Faceted gems, some tiny pieces of gold die cut foliage and a couple of the waste hearts from the border. Finally, I coloured the buds and flower outlines with my Wink of Stella glitter brush. It's an over the top card with lots of layers and embellishments, and I'm happy with that. It's for an over the top occasion!
I hope that you are inspired by my card today and that you will continue along the hop to see what the others have created too. Enjoy the projects! We would love to hear from you and so if you have been inspired, please leave a comment.
