Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop - A Technique Challenge

Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I am taking part in a blog hop with some fellow enthusiasts who love sharing their creative talents using their Stampin' Up!® products. This month in the Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop we have a Technique Challenge.

This technique was fun to do, albeit a little messy! The brief was to create a background with reinkers and marbles. I spritzed water inside a plastic box lid, dropped in a few drops of reinker, then rolled three marbles around creating colourful trails and then captured the pattern onto a quarter sheet of Basic White card. I trialled this a few times creating numerous backgrounds, cleaning the lid each time before starting the process over again - the backgrounds were pretty; the state of my hands, not so much!

The more water added to the lid, the more the colours flooded and mixed into each other. The dryer the lid was, the more defined the coloured trails stayed. I used Summer Splash, Pretty Peacock and Crumb Cake reinkers and I preferred more distinct trails of colour so I spritzed the water sparingly. I also tried rolling the marbles in a drop of reinker before adding them to the water spritzed lid. This yielded a similar effect, but a little less intense.

The backgrounds dried pretty quickly because the weather has been rather warm here. However, it did take me a while to decide which background to use -
I stuck to the same colour combination but each background is unique.

I topped the background piece with a frame created with the Everyday Details dies and added foliage cut with the Thoughtful Wishes dies. To complete the decoration I added a white heat embossed sentiment, a Crumb Cake Baker's Twine bow and some Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems.

Making this card was so much fun - not just creating the background but adding the layers and textures too. I hope you will continue along the hop to see what the others have created too...please enjoy the projects! We would love to hear from you and so if you have been inspired, please leave a comment.
